The Top Uses of The Who Songs in Movies

The Who actually just decided to get together for a performance not that long ago. Can you believe it? They’ve been rocking the stage for decades and they just decided to come back. That’s so incredibly awesome that fans young and old are going to be flocking to the show most likely in an effort to watch one of their favorite bands in action yet again. The Who have been throughout film history one of the many that have contributed to movies in a way that just makes them sound better and gives a bigger presence to whatever scene they happen to be featured in.

Here are just a few films that their music helped out in recent years.

5. Minions – My Generation

You might notice that the minions pop up on a lot of these kind of lists. Well it’s hard to deny their popularity any longer since they’ve been featured on everything from film to Tic Tacs.  Gru’s kind of been left in the dust as the minions have taken over, and in truth Despicable Me 2 and 3 really only got the push because of the minions. Even though the reception for their individual movie has died down since it came out they’re still considered to be one of the top cartoons in show biz today.

4. Premium Rush – Baba O’ Riley

No one ever really thinks of bicycles as being dangerous. But then not everyone rides a bike for a living in New York City where traffic can be packed bumper to bumper and a single wrong turn can leave you splattered across someone’s windshield. The couriers in this film are daring, skilled, and somewhat unbalanced really when you take a look at how they tend to flout the traffic laws and do their own thing in order to get their package delivered. Can you imagine if they tried delivering anything bigger than a small parcel?

3. Law Abiding Citizen – Eminence Front

What would you do if you had to watch your family being slaughtered in front of you? Add to that the fact that justice was not only blind, it was as crooked as the letter S. Do you think you’d want revenge? Butler’s character certainly did, and he had the means to take it. When a guy that’s already proven that he has the will and the means to take people out even when he’s incarcerated asks you to do something on time, you might want to at least listen and pay attention.

2. Jerry Maguire – Magic Bus

The life of a sports agent can’t possibly be easy. If you add on the stress of trying to deal with a family that seems like it would only compound the work issues. But then if you take into account that work would be a drag if you didn’t have someone to come home to then it might all even out eventually. Be grateful for those that are willing to sacrifice for you, and make sure you’re willing to do the same. That seems to be the message here.

1.  War Dogs – Behind Blue Eyes

Arms dealers never seem to be the most reliable people. It seems that their profession forces them, out of necessity, to shift their loyalties and their ethics as needed in order to remain on the cutting edge. It definitely was not the job for someone that had never supported any war and had a family to consider. Running guns might be profitable, but it’s as far from being safe as one can be.

The Who’s music is the kind that lift a film up or level it out as needed. In each of these films The Who are featured prominently and are hard to miss.
