drapers2-IMG_1039Miss Farrell finally gets out of Don's car, grabs her suitcase and does the walk to shame home.

Don brushes his teeth, but can't meet his reflection in the mirror.  Then suddenly, he's waking up to a new morning.  He puts the pictures back in the shoebox, which is still on the dresser.

Betty stands over the kids as they eat breakfast.  Baby Gene is even there in a bouncy seat on the table.  Don walks in, ready for work.  "Do you want something?" Betty asks softly.  "Are you going to have something?" he replies.  Sally looks over at him like he's crazy, since Betty doesn't eat, only smokes, but Bobby kills the moment by asking about Trick or Treating, and Don assures him he'll be there.  Don walks over to Betty and strokes the back of her hair as they lock eyes.  There's just a hint of a smile on both their faces.  Don goes over and kisses all the kids, then walks toward the door.  "I'll see you tonight," he says, holding Betty's gaze.  You can tell from her expression she's still in murky waters, but I think her head is at least above the waves.

Allison is surprised to see Don, but quickly rolls with the change in schedule.  I need a secretary.

Don calls Miss Farrell.  "About last night," he says.  "What happened, did you get caught?"  Yeah, you could say that, Suzanne, but not for the reasons you think.  "It's more complicated than that," he says, sitting down heavily.  "So I suppose I'm not going to see you anymore?"  "Not right now.  No," he replies.  Please just let that be NO, Don.  She asks if she needs to worry about her job, but he assures her she doesn't.  She hangs up before she gets too weepy.

"He's home!"  Bobby yells the second Don walks through the door.  "Shh, you'll wake the baby," Betty says as she - wait, what's this? - EATS A SANDWICH.  Holy hell, it's a new day in the Draper house indeed if Betty's eating.  She asks Don if he wants anything, and he says no.  She wonders if she should take the baby carriage, and Don says it's cold, she could stay home - or he could stay home - with the baby, but she says no.  "Good," he says as she hands him the rest of her sandwich.  Bobby protests, "What's taking so long?" before we get too deep in symbolism.

Bobby the Hobo and Sally the Gypsy ring the bell at Francine's house, and her husband opens the door.  "We've got a gypsy and a hobo.  And who are you supposed to be?" he asks Don and Betty, as the camera zeros in on Don's wide eyes.  "Where is Love?" from Oliver! plays us into the credits.
