Everyone-tvEveryone storms into Harry's office, riveted to the TV.

Don wanders around, wondering why all the phones are ringing and the secretaries are all missing.  "What the hell is going on?"  he demands of no one in particular.  The phones all go silent at once.

Betty sits and smokes, watching TV and looking scared.  The newscaster interrupts with a bulletin:  two priest who were with President Kennedy say he is dead.  Tears spring to Betty's eyes as Carla comes in with the kids.  "Is he OK?" Carla asks.  "They just said he died," Betty says, her voice catching.  Carla gasps, and both of their faces start to crumple.  Carla sits down by Betty on the couch, lights a cigarette, and they watch TV.  Sally comes and sits on the edge of the couch, putting her arm around her mom.

Duck and Peggy are finished with their activity that I'm not thinking about, and Duck casually mentions he saw something on the TV before she got there and might want to check on it.  He plugs in the TV as Peggy plays with her hair and lolls on the bed, but she sits right up when Walter Cronkite comes on with the official word that President Kennedy is dead.  It's affecting still to see Walter Cronkite tamp down his emotions to deliver the news.  Duck says he has to call his kids while Peggy just sits there, shocked.

Margaret, in the middle of her final dress fitting, sobs that it's all ruined as Mona tries to console her.

Don arrives to a darkened house, and  the kids parked in front of the TV.  Betty wasn't feeling well, but comes downstairs.  She and Don embrace.  "I can't stop crying," she says, her nose red.  "Why are the kids watching this?"  Don asks.  "But what am I supposed to do?  Am I supposed to keep it from them?' she asks, reasonably.  "Take a pill and lie down.  I can handle the kids," he says.  She looks at him searchingly, then heads back upstairs.  "Turn this off, I'll make us some dinner," Don says.  The kids ignore him.  "Will you two look at me?  Everything is going to be OK."  Sally looks at him like she doesn't quite believe him.  "We have a new president and we're all going to be sad a little bit.  And on Monday there's going to be a funeral," he tells them.  "Are we going to the funeral?" Bobby asks.  Don has him come sit on his knee, and the TV stays on.

Later.  Don walks into the bedroom.  Betty is asleep, but the radio is on.  He snaps it off, and takes a pill of his own.
