After its premiere in 2015, Chicago Med, joined NBC’s successful Chicago franchise which also features Chicago Fire and Chicago PD. By putting a unique spin on the classic hospital drama, Chicago Med, has managed to keep millions of viewers captivated each week. Thanks to the show’s success, actress, Torrey DeVitto has earned her first long-term starring role in a TV series. As the show’s leading lady, DeVitto is becoming a household name and fans just can’t seem to get enough of the 31-year-old beauty. But as fans continue to get to know the star, they may be surprised to find out that she’s just as interesting as her character, Dr. Manning. Here are five things you didn’t know about Torrey DeVitto.
She made her small screen debut in Dawson’s Creek.
If you were an angsty — but unusually well-spoken — teen during the early 2000s, you probably spent a lot of time watching Dawson’s Creek. Well, if you were paying enough attention, you may have seen Torrey DeVitto during an episode. DeVitto made her acting debut on the show in 2003 in a very small role. Ironically; however, DeVito’s mom didn’t even allow her to watch the series when it first aired because she felt that the content was too inappropriate.
She loves animals.
DeVitto is a proud animal lover and she does what she can to support the fair treatment of animals. DeVitto has partnered with PETA on animal rights campaigns including one “to help spread awareness against using animal skins and fur for fashion.”
She once modeled in a Japan.
These days, Torrey DeVitto is best-known for her work as an actress; however, she has also worked as a model. When she was just 17-years-old, she spent a summer modeling in Japan. Although she says she didn’t get a chance to experience Japan the way she would have liked to, she says she enjoyed “seeing the Japanese girls dress up in the most extravagant costumes on Sundays in the park! Gothic makeup and huge dresses that were so funky and vintage looking.”
Her mother is friends with Stevie Nicks.
There’s no denying the fact that Stevie Nicks is a legend, and there are many fans who would love for chance to meet her. Well, not only has Torrey DeVitto met Stevie Nicks, but DeVitto’s mother is best friends with the star and DeVitto says that she considers Nicks an aunt.
She’s a violinist.
Just when you thought Torrey DeVitto couldn’t get any more talented, she does. She has been playing the violin since she was just six-years-old, and was asked to play a solo at Christie Brinkley’s wedding.
