After giving birth to her first child in January, Christina Applegate quickly became one of the most sought after actresses of the pilot season. It makes sense, of course, as she's coming off two Emmy nominations for Samantha Who? and more than a decade on Married with Children. Reportedly fielding over a dozen offers, Applegate has signed onto an untitled Lorne Michaels produced pilot at NBC, according to TV Guide.
The show, which was written by Parks & Rec's Emily Spivey, centers on an acerbic working mom, her stay-at-home husband, and her outspoken parents. Applegate is the first to sign onto the show, which is cast contingent (i.e. the network would order the pilot if a suitable cast can be assembled). It's nice to see Applegate making the TV rounds again, so I'm hoping that the show receives a pickup in May. Now that Katey Sagal is off winning Golden Globes for portraying a tough motorcycle matriarch, Ed O'Neill is making us laugh on one of the most successful shows on TV, and Christina Applegate has attached herself to a potential series, I only have one thing to say.
Your move, David Faustino.
What do you think about Christina returning to TV? Is this the kind of project you thought she would do? If not, what pilot should she have signed onto?
