NBC Has a Hannibal Show, and Eddie Izzard is In It

This is news to me, and frankly I’m surprised this is the first time we’re reporting on it. NBC is developing is promising sounding Hannibal show. No, not the guy with the elephants, the cannibal serial killer made famous by Anthony Hopkins.

The show is from Bryan Fuller, and it’s been announced that guest stars for the show ill include Gina Torres, Molly Shannon(?), Ellen Greene and Chelan Simmons. Hopefully they don’t all get eaten.

Add one more name to that list: Eddie Izzard. The actor will play the “Chesapeake Ripper” an inmate at the prison where Hannibal is eventually housed. I have a hunch he’ll square off against the man himself,  played by Mads Mikkelsen.

There’s no air date for the show yet, but we can assume it will be out this winter or fall. Seems a bit heavy for NBC, but we’ll see what they can do with it within the constraints of a prime time network.
