Nick Jonas, Bernadette Peters Set to Appear on Smash

NBC has announced that Nick Jonas and Bernadette Peters will be guest starring on the much buzzed about drama Smash, which will be debuting in February. There's no word on which episode the two will guest star on or if they'll be featured in the same one, however.

Jonas, one-third of the boy band The Jonas Brothers, will be portraying a sitcom star with theater roots in his upcoming episode. In addition to his time in productions of Les Miserables, Hairspray, and A Christmas Carol, the musician has starred in a Disney original series (Jonas L.A.) and guest starred on the likes of Mr. Sunshine.

Peters, meanwhile, will be playing a former theater star who now lives vicariously through her daughter, the production's former star currently battling for the lead role. Peters has previously made guest appearances on Ugly Betty, Will & Grace, and Grey's Anatomy, while also winning two Tony awards (1999's Annie Get Your Gun, 1985's Song and Dance), writing a string of children's books, and pursuing a successful recording career.

Smash follows a musical based on the life of Marilyn Monroe coming to fruition. It stars Debra Messing (Will & Grace), Katharine McPhee (The House Bunny), Megan Hilty (Bitter Feast), Jack Davenport (Pirates of the Caribbean), and Anjelica Huston (The Royal Tenenbaums).

Are there any musically inclined actors that you'd like to see guest star on Smash? How do you think Peters and Jonas will fit in with the show?
