So you know that time when I said that Love Bites, The Paul Reiser Show, and Friends with Benefits wouldn't see the light of day, thanks to being left off of NBC's summer schedule?
Well, uh...I was wrong.
Entertainment Weekly's James Hibberd is reporting that The Paul Reiser Show will debut April 14th at 8:30, taking over for ratings challenged Perfect Couples. The freshman comedy will have two episodes unaired at the time of its yanking and there's no word as to when they'll air, if ever. The Cape had its final episode put online and we've yet to see the final episodes of Undercovers, so if you're a Perfect Couples fan, I wouldn't hold my breath at seeing the episodes until the DVD release.
Perfect Couples star Kyle Bornheimer made news earlier this spring when he signed onto Fox's The Council of Dads, a sign that a renewal for the struggling sitcom was unlikely (but not impossible), and the events that transpired today free him up to do that show, should it be greenlit.
The Paul Reiser Show stars the Mad About You alum as a version of himself, now removed from primetime and trying to adapt to being a "family man" once again. In a coincidence, it will air its six episode first season in Mad About You's old timeslot.
Will you miss Perfect Couples? Are you going to give The Paul Reiser Show a chance? Do you think either Love Bites or Friends with Benefits will get a shot to air their seasons?
Dammit! I LOVE Perfect Couples. Why do TV networks always cancel the best shows? I might have to boycott NBC…
now that they're on it — NBC should give the other two shows, Love Bites and Friends with Benefits, premiere dates too. There are people who want to see those shows, just saying.
