With still no news of a renewal tonight's episode of Chuck could be one of the last of the series, and if it is it looks set to be a doozy.
After a one week break if you need a refresher check out Michael's recap of the last episode, which saw Chuck and Sarah get conned out of their wedding money by their very own wedding planner. This led to a rather touching episode about family, particularly for Sarah and her father and Casey revealing himself inadvertently to his former love and mother to his child Kathleen, who had long believed him to be dead.
Family and wedding plans look like they are also center stage tonight as both Sarah and Chuck have their last night of freedom with their bachelor/bachelorette parties. In true Chuck fashion it looks like neither of these events will go according to plan (remember Awesome's bachelor party?!), especially with the return of Volkoff's lawyer (guest star Ray Wise) who is sure to cause some mischief for team Bartowski. That isn't the only factor that looks set to cause Chuck some problems as Ellie's work with their dads computer has led her further in to the spy life that Chuck has been hiding from her. Considering the title of the episode and the hint in the promo below I have a feeling that we might be introduced to Agent X tonight, the one person Volkoff fears, any thoughts on who it could be?
Once again we are heading toward the ending of the season without the confirmation of a renewal, so is there anything that fans can do to show NBC that Chuck should be saved? Twitter seems to be the place that show co-creator Josh Schwartz seems to be focusing on with the rally cry for people to watch the show live and use the hashtag #NotANielsenFamily to try and show how antiquated the current ratings system is. There have been many fan campaigns in the past that involve buying items from sponsors (Subway) or sending something to the network (Nerds candy) so it will be interesting to see if this course of action has any effect. NBC haven't had a stellar season, particularly with new product (Paul Reiser anyone?) so this might work in Chuck's favour and it obviously has a very strong but small fan base. Checking over at TV by the Numbers doesn't warm my heart though, as they think that the show is likely to be cancelled as we head in to the final straight, I'm hoping that they are wrong and the only thing to do now is watch and enjoy the show and wait for the dreaded upfronts.
