TV Line ran a rather extensive piece today about Mark Harmon’s thoughts about Cote de Pablo leaving NCIS. Though we have talked about it many times, speculating about her potential exit (will she or won’t she die?), as well as her reasons for leaving, the cast feelings about it have been pretty much minimal, atleast in terms of what they release to the public, but now we have some insight into how the show’s lead, Mark Harmon, feels about losing such an essential member of the team.
The first thing people need to understand is, there have been some rumors floating around that de Pablo’s character will have an amazing ending, but we don’t know what that means. Some are hinting at some “tear jerking” moments, while other have plainly said they will NOT kill off the character. You add to that the most recent still shots that have leaked from her final episode that seem to have her kissing a certain special someone whom she has never kissed but whom fans of the show have wanted to see kiss, and people are pretty much up in arms. But Mark Harmon’s thoughts on it are pretty simple.
In layman’s terms, he knows she will be a huge loss to the show, and that they’re going to have to work even harder to keep the show in top shape with her gone, BUT, that is exactly what they intend to do. So, in essence, he is saying, we move on, but we keep giving you the best TV we possibly can.
Now we just need to tune in and see if that is as easy to pull of in Cote’s absence as Mark Harmon may think.
