NCIS is a Monster: Tops 25M Viewers for the First Time
I can't say I've watched NCIS in the last few years, but something must be going on to get audiences excited. The show has been setting records for a while now in terms of viewership, but it's just broken one that's pretty incredible.
According to Nielsen, the show topped 25M viewers for the first time ever. That's even more impressive, considering that Nielsen is increasingly not accurately keeping track of DVR and online viewing (though NCIS's audience skews older).
The show added a full 2.5M viewers to reach the mark, and I have to imagine that it will continue on indefinitely with numbers like this. For a show in its 10th season to put up numbers like this is truly incredible, no matter what you might think of the show itself.
For fans of the show, what's been happening recently that might explain why this is happening? For newcomers, why is it that you've either come back to the show or started tuning in fresh?

Those last two shows of NCIS were the absolutely best. Cote de Pablo was fantastic. The show was intense and the acting was superb. I actually started watching when they added the Ziva character with her interesting backstory as a former Mossad agent. I thought her capture at the end of season 6 was the best but this topped it. Hopefully they end the season with the followup. Shabatt Shalom and Shiva were the best of a wonderful show.
Came back to it a couple of years ago when I happened upon a marathon on USA one Saturday. Stayed for the acting & chemistry of the entire cast along with some of the recurring characters. Muse Watson (alas, no longer with us Mike Franks played by Muse Watson) & several others. For me it’s all about the characters together.
The writers on NCIS have brass balls, you never know which main character is gonna get killed off. They [the writers] know how to keep each character involved in every story line, unlike shows. Makes for a very edgy series.
It is because Tony and Ziva are building up to something big. The pair will more then likely be together by the end of season 10, their sexual tension plays a big part in the attraction of viewers
1. The Tony/Ziva story is finally advancing.
2. The characters and their interactions never fail to entice the viewer, whether played for comedy or tragedy as in the last two new episodes.
