Tonight's episode of New Girl is called "Bad in Bed" so from the title alone you can be sure to expect a high level of awkward Jess (Zooey Deschanel) scenes, especially when you throw guest star Justin Long in the mix as her love interest Paul. This will be Long's second appearance as we first met his very Jess like character in the Thanksgiving episode. Light spoilers ahead.
It's been a while since Jess was last intimate with a man and as you can remember from the pilot episode her last attempt to spice up her sex life was rather disastrous; Jess caught her boyfriend cheating as she was in the middle of a striptease. This is enough to weaken anyone's confidence and as we have seen before Jess is open to advice and help from her friends in the relationship department, but she will of course interpret it in her very Jess like way. Jess decides then, to get some sex advice from the guys as she is ready to take her relationship with Paul to the next level. This advice session turns into Schmidt (Max Greenfield) trying to embarrass Nick (Jake Johnson) about his sex life as well as endorsing tips such as 'light choking.'
This advice is likely to cause some super awkward and hilarious scenes that are hinted at in the sneak peeks below that include role play, issues with underwear removal and some light spanking. As we saw from Thanksgiving, Paul is very much like Jess and this will only add to the bizarre and awkward sexy attempts from the pair.
Schmidt when he isn't giving sex advice tonight embarks on his own awkward journey, as he scores an invite to his boss's baby shower so he can compete with his female counterpart at work. This sounds like we are in for some amazing Schmidt moments, who has become a bit of a scene stealer in the last few outings. If his interpretation of 'afterbirth' is anything to go by I think we're in for another good night for Schmidt jokes.
Meanwhile, Nick is looking a little bit dishevelled and the guys try and convince him to get a haircut. A plan he opposes due to the conversation pressures of sitting for that long with another person's hands in his hair.
In exciting New Girl casting news E!Online first reported that True Blood star Ryan Kwanten (Jason Stackhouse) has signed up to guest star for the Valentine's Day episode, so don't get too comfortable with Paul as Kwanten is going to be a potential love interest for Jess. Kwanten will be playing Oliver, a guy that Jess meets in a bar after she decides that she should have a one-night stand for her first single Valentine's in six years.
