Nurse Jackie Teasers: Jackie's Life Becomes Even Messier
Jackie Peyton's life underwent more change in the past few months than the previous two decades combined. Once able to get away with just about anything, Jackie found herself having to face consequences for her addiction to prescription drugs. Kevin filed for divorce, her performance at the hospital was more scrutinized than ever, and she never felt further away from her children; life through sober eyes was much different than how she had been living, but by the end of the fourth season of Nurse Jackie, she seemed to have a handle on it, all things considered.
Jackie may have made it through the worst part of her transition into sobriety, but that doesn't mean that things get easy from here on out. In fact, it's quite the opposite. While Jackie has Akalitus and Eddie back at the hospital for moral support, Zoe has decided to go to Al-Anon to better understand Jackie's addiction, there are several new faces working alongside her, and she has to deal with the notion of dating after getting into a traffic accident. The cop who attends to her (guest star Adam Ferrara) gets a little flirty and the two decide to go out on a date; one of the main symptoms/drawbacks to Jackie becoming sober is that she could no longer be comfortably numb. She had emotions and she had to face up to those emotions in all of their power, something she wasn't exactly used to and something she'll have to deal with her.
Nurse Jackie Peyton is far from a vulnerable person and often eschews anything sentimental or anything that could put her in an uncomfortable position. Jackie Peyton the woman, though, might be ready to open herself up after decades of being closed off.
