Once Upon a Time at Comic-Con: Sean Maguire & Rebecca Mader Discuss Robin Hood & Zelena in Season 5

Once Upon a Time

One of the biggest twists that occurred in Once Upon a Time‘s fourth season was the reveal that Zelena (Rebecca Mader), the Wicked Witch, was not only alive but posing as Robin Hood’s (Sean Maguire) wife, Marian. And then, to top that twist, was an even crazier one: Zelena was pregnant with Robin’s child, meaning that no harm could be done to her, no matter how much he and Regina (Lana Parilla) wanted to seek retribution for all the pain and trouble she had caused them.

Fortunately, though, according to Maguire, who, along with Mader, has been promoted to a series regular for Season 5 of Once Upon a Time, it sounds like there won’t be too many obstacles thrown Robin and Regina’s way at the start of the new season.

“I think Robin and Regina have already been through so much,” Maguire said, when we spoke with him at San Diego Comic-Con earlier this month, “that, if I was a betting man, I’d say that they’re probably going to stay together.”

And while Maguire and Mader couldn’t offer too many details about the upcoming season of Once Upon a Time, since they both had only just read one script at the time we talked to them, the pair did share some interesting ideas about where their stories could potentially go, including the possibility of Zelena and the new, dark version of Emma teaming up.

Watch the full interview with Maguire and Mader below (and for the record, I apologize for the shaky camera and for Mader not being in the shot at some points; it was nearly impossible to get a good angle at the roundtable I was at), and be sure to check back for more videos with the casts and producers of other major series, including The OriginalsHeroes Reborn, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Once Upon a Time Season 5 premieres on Sunday, Sept. 27, at 8 p.m. on ABC.
