Entertainment Weekly's James Hibberd is reporting that NBC has renewed Parenthood for a third season. This isn't a surprise, as the show has performed pretty solidly on the network (and had a finale ratings boom that more or less sealed its renewal), but it's welcome news for fans of Team Braverman to know that our favorite family will be back for another go around this fall.
The only question now is where to air Parenthood. It has shown that it can stand on its own now, so I'd expect it to move from the post-Biggest Loser spot at the very least. While I'd like to see the show moved to an earlier time to get more exposure, I don't know if NBC wants to take away a steady 10:00 performer at a time when broadcast networks are struggling with that timeslot. The show is, however, a family show at its core and I think it would flourish if families were given the chance to watch the show together. The show may have to slightly edit itself (I don't think we'd get many more pot lollipop stories or frisky one-liners from two parents trying to have a baby), but I'd be willing to accept that if I can get the show on for years to come.
But now isn't the time for hand wringing. Quick, someone call Amazing Andy and we can get a pretty sweet bug show in celebration of 22 more episodes of flighty Sarah, rigid Kristina, and everyone else in between.

I would prefer it to stay where it is. I watch it after my 2 year old daughter goes to bed.

I am soooooo happy to hear NBC renewed Parenthood for a 3rd Season! The BEST series on commercial TV! Kudos to all involved! I also would like to see the series move to a 9 pm time slot to build a larger share of audience. My 17 year-old-son watches it with me! I ♥ the Bravermans!

I love that it's coming back. I agree that it could be a good family show. It's messy, it's real, but I wouldn't want to change that. I like the 10:00 spot. The kids are finally asleep by then and I can enjoy hanging out with my husband discussing this week's episode of Parenthood. We love to talk about how we would handle the different situations portrayed with any of our four kids. They are sure to arise! We love this show and hope to see it coming back for seasons to come. Great job all!

What's NOT to like in this wonderful true to life show? We grandparents have the good fortune of connecting with every issue effecting all three generations in the Braverman family and we can't say enough about the truly great insightful writing. The actors are all the best. This show, with this magnificent cast, and fabulous writers, could go on forever as far as we're concerned. Can't wait for the new season to start. Keep the time slot and stay true to the edgier nature of the Bravermans. It's a show for the ones doing the parenting not the kids for whom pot pops don't exist and the idea that their parents actually have sex is pretty repugnant.
