At the end of Parenthood's second season, Crosby and Jasmine seemed to have taken the first step toward getting back together. Once unable to be in the same room together without verbally tussling, the finale captured a moment of knowing silence between the two and implied that Jabbar's parents aren't through yet.
However, recently spoilers have leaked that a reconciliation won't be immediate, with both characters gaining potential love interests early in the season. While Crosby's as-yet-unnamed future boo hasn't been cast or detailed, Jasmine's paramour now has a face to go along with the minor information we've learned so far.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, D.B. Woodside has been tapped to play Joseph Prestidge, Jabbar's Ivy League-educated pediatrician that catches Jasmine's fancy for 5 episodes this season. The character will first appear in the third episode of season three.
Perhaps best known for playing Principal Wood during Buffy the Vampire Slayer's final season, Woodside's recent TV credits include VH1's Single Ladies, Hellcats, and some guest work on the likes of Castle, Private Practice, and Monk.
I, for one, welcome the news of Jasmine getting back out in the dating world. I think we all know that she'll get back together with Crosby at some point this season, so we'll be getting the chance to see some (limited edition) non-romantic co-parenting for the first time in the show's history. There are two married couples on the show and a single mom with an absentee dad, so we haven't (really) gotten to see this particular shade of parenting before and it'll be interesting to see how it comes off. There's a lot of untapped story potential in having two young parents of a young child try to date again, remain civil with their ex, and raise their child to the best of their ability and if anybody can bring out said potential, it's the team behind Parenthood.
Parenthood will be having its third season premiere on Tuesday, September 13th at 10:00 on NBC. Those of you still not satiated by the spoilers can check out the first on-air promo for the season that was released this week.
What do you think about the possibility of both Crosby and Jasmine having concurrent new love interests? Would you want to see Woodside stay on for more than 5 episodes, should his storyline be a success? When, if ever, do you think Crosby and Jasmine should get back together?
Yes, i am looking foward to the co-parenting s/l and all the tension and awkwardness that comes with parents trying to date again. Woodside is a great actor but i want Crosby and Jasmine to reunite, they belong together. Hopefully, Jasmine will realise that she still loves/ wants Crosby.
