FOX Releases Trailer for Prison Break Season 5 “Storm”

2009.  That’s the last time a new episode of Prison Break aired.  Thanks to Netflix and a new fanbase, the show itself is making a return to television.  An immediate critical and ratings hit when the original series premiered in the fall of 2005, the new event series will hit the ground running, reuniting series stars Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell as brothers Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows. In a new interview with TVGuide, Purcell admitted that it wasn’t exactly hard to get the Prison Break ball rolling again.

“Wentworth [Miller] and I were working on The Flash. And we hadn’t seen each other for quite some time, we just started to talk about Prison Break. Before we knew it we were at Fox talking to them about [revisiting] the show. And it was more or less greenlit pretty fast.”

The reason for the fast green light?  Purcell and Miller can thank Netflix for that.  Prison Break is one of the most-viewed shows on Netflix, which has seen a whole new generation join the legion of fans who weren’t old enough to check it out back in the 00s, and that this extra fanbase was the driving force behind a new season happening so fast.

There will be nine episodes and the show premieres in April.  Check out the trailer below:
