The Prisoner - 2The Prisoner - 6If you're planning on watching The Prisoner, you'd better get your TiVo ready. The entirity of The Prisoner will be aired over three nights, taking up two hour-long primetime blocks on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. Each hour will constitute one of the six episodes  of the series (that's all there's gonna be, folks), and is bound to create conflicts with members of its audience who also watch network television series. Shows like Heroes, House, and V, and The Prisoner may be in conflict with these shows for viewers (particularly V, which is also a remake of an older sci-fi miniseries).

So what should you watch? I would suggest going with The Prisoner for all three nights, considering it's an event of epic proportions (of course it's epic, it stars Gandalf and Jesus).  There's no need to worry much about the ratings of shows like House and V -- they're not going anywhere.

The Prisoner, a remake of the 1960's sci-fi series of the same name, features a man (Jim Caviezel) who quits his job and soon wakes up in a village with no memory of his previous life. He is designated the number 6 as his only form of identity. Though he refuses to believe that the Village is all there is (as everyone seems to believe), he is forced into a battle of the wills with 2 (Sir Ian McKellan), who seems to be hiding a secret about the village. As 6 tries to escape, he finds himself in more and more bizarre circumstances, such as being chased in the dessert by a large white balloon known in the original series as Rover (you can catch a glimpse of it in the poster pictured right) that will suffocate him if it catches him. Yeah, the show's a bit of a head trip.

The Prisoner is set to begin airing on the cable network AMC (home of critically acclaimed series Mad Men and Breaking Bad) tomorrow night at 8/7c, and will continue its run for the following night before reaching its conclusion in Tuesday night's second hour.

    Gandalf and Jesus! Hahaha! Wonderful!

Thanks for the heads-up. I hope this is something they are going to replay for the next month and a half like they usually do on AMC.

I'll most certainly be watching this. From some of the promotional material that I've seen, it's gonna be epic. They shot on location in a remote part of Africa and are doing so on 35mm film stock. It's gonna be something.
