Was it the ESPN Monday Night Football game between the Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans on the CBS affiliate in Baltimore, which lends wings to How I Met Your Mother and Rules of Engagement? That’s for sure: Both programs set season highs.
CBS won Monday in both age categories, opening the evening with How I Met Your Mother (10.10 million viewers; A18-49: 3.7/10) and Rules of Engagement (10.08 million viewers; A18-49: 3.3/9), which hit season highs. Two and a Half Men (14.39 million viewers; A18-49: 4.4/11) and Mike & Molly (12.49 million viewers; A18-49: 3.7/9) dominated at 9pm while Hawaii Five-0 (11.13 million viewers; A18-49: 2.9/8) had a lock on the 10pm hour.
Next was NBC with a two-hour edition of The Sing-Off, which perked up to 9.43 million viewers and a 3.3/8 among adults 18-49. This was an increase of 860,000 viewers and 18 percent in the demo compared to a week ago and a series high in both age categories. A repeat of Chase capped off the evening at a lackluster 4.57 million viewers and a 1.3/3 in adults 18-49.
By the medium of Football, which locally aired in several local markets, FOX placed third in total viewers and adults 18-49 with repeats of House (7.36 million viewers; A18-49: 2.4/6) and Lie to Me (5.99 million viewers; A18-49: 1.9/5).
Over at ABC, Skating with the Stars fell from grace with 3.77 million viewers and a 0.8/2 in the demo. Without a doubt: This was a series low for the reality show. A special of Mariah Carey: Merry Christmas to You (4.89 million viewers; A18-49: 1.1/3) and a repeat of Castle (5.20 million viewers; A18-49: 1.2/3) closed the evening at a disappointing note.
The CW got fifth place, airing back-to-back repeats of The Vampire Diaries, which averaged 1.32 million viewers and a 0.5/1 in adults 18-49.
