Skating with the Stars carried the hopes of ABC for the period between the fall and midseason season of Dancing with the Stars. This proposition went obviously wrong. From the beginning, the competition show was skating on thin ice. Although Rebecca Budig and Fred Palascak won the golden skates, there were actually no real winners on this show.
The first and certainly only season finale of Skating with the Stars generated 3.42 million viewers and a 0.8 rating/3 share among adults 18-49. Compared to yesterday, this was an increase of 60 percent in adults 18-49 but deficient in strength to at least reach mediocrity. Repeats of No Ordinary Family (3.14 million viewers; A18-49: 0.8/2) and Detroit 1-8-7 (4.59 million viewers; A18-49: 0.9/3) capped off the evening for ABC.
Tuesday victory in total viewers went to CBS with its repeat combination of NCIS (12.32 million viewers; A18-49: 2.2/7), NCIS: Los Angeles (11.31 million viewers; A18-49: 2.1/6) and The Good Wife (6.76 million viewers; A18-49: 1.3/4).
NBC finished first with adults 18-49 airing an original edition of Minute to Win It (7.00 million viewers; A18-49: 2.1/7), down 9 percent in total viewers and adults 18-49 versus last week followed by a repeat of Saturday Night Live Presents: A Very Gilly Christmas (6.02 million viewers; A18-49: 2.3/7) which was the highest rated program of the night among adults 18-49.
FOX found itself in mid-table with a repeat of Glee (4.08 million viewers; A18-49: 1.3/4) and an original installment of Million Dollar Money Drop (5.51 million viewers; A18-49: 2.0/6) which held steady in the demo but went slightly up by 3 percent in total viewers opposite the series premiere a day ago.
Last-placed The CW closed the evening with repeats of One Tree Hill (1.03 million viewers; A18-49: 0.4/1) and Life Unexpected (0.75 million viewers; A18-49: 0.2/1).
