TV Ratings Sunday: Football Lifts 'The Simpsons' To Season High

Good news for The Simpsons: The yellow chaos family hit a new season high in total viewers thanks to a Football Overrun and The OT as lead-in support.

There is no cure for Football fever: NBC (16.06 million viewers; A18-49: 5.7/14) won Sunday in total viewers and adults 18-49 due to Football Night in America (9.78 million viewers; A18-49: 3.1/8) and NBC Sunday Night Football (19.84 million viewers; A18-49: 7.3/18). Keep in mind: Ratings for sports broadcasts are always approximate.

Next was FOX (11.58 million viewers; A18-49: 4.6/12), which opened the evening with a Football Overrun (26.35 million viewers; A18-49: 9.3/26) and The OT (15.24 million viewers; A18-49: 5.8/15). At 8pm, The Simpsons (9.56 million viewers; A18-49: 4.2/11) hit a new season high in total viewers and was on par with its season high in adults 18-49 from October 3, 2010. Two all-new episodes of The Cleveland Show (6.51 million viewers; A18-49: 3.0/8) followed by an original installment of American Dad (5.28 million viewers; A18-49: 2.5/6) capped off the evening for FOX at a moderate note.

CBS (10.89 million viewers; A18-49: 2.6/6) aired its regular Sunday line-up and came in third among adults 18-49. While 60 Minutes (11.93 million viewers; A18-49: 2.1/6) and CSI: Miami (10.74 million viewers; A18-49: 2.5/6) were up in the demo, The Amazing Race (10.54 million viewers; A18-49: 3.0/8) slipped slightly and Undercover Boss (10.36 million viewers; A18-49: 2.7/7) dropped by 21 percent in adults 18-49 over its previous first run on November 21, 2010.

Last was ABC (8.70 million viewers; A18-49: 2.5/6) with its combination of AFV - America’s Funniest Home Videos (7.76 million viewers; A18-49: 1.9/5), Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (8.10 million viewers; A18-49: 2.2/6), Desperate Housewives (11.21 million viewers; A18-49: 3.5/8) and Brothers & Sisters (7.72 million viewers; A18-49: 2.2/6).
