TV Ratings Wednesday: Hell’s Kitchen Rises But Survivor Rules Night

CBS ruled Wednesday in total viewers and adults 18-49. NBC came in second in both categories followed by FOX. ABC only scored off The CW.

The penultimate edition of CBS' Survivor: Nicaragua opened the evening at a dominant 12.37 million viewers and a 3.6/11 in the demo. Criminal Minds perked up to 13.80 million viewers but slipped by 8 percent in adults 18-49 to a 3.3/9 in comparison with its lead-in. The Defenders (10.20 million viewers; A18-49: 2.0/6) held steady over the previous week but still disappoints.

Over at NBC, The Sing-Off drew 8.38 million viewers and a 2.9/8 among adults 18-49, building 740,000 viewers and 7 percent in the demo compared to one week earlier. A repeat of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (6.86 million viewers; A18-49: 2.0/6) capped off the evening surprisingly well for NBC.

FOX aired an all-new episode of struggling Human Target (5.79 million viewers; A18-49: 1.6/5), which kept stable opposite last week followed by the eighth season finale of Hell’s Kitchen (5.90 million viewers; A18-49: 2.6/7), which posted gains of 570,000 viewers and 13 percent in adults 18-49 as opposed to a week ago.

Fourth-placed ABC closed the evening with repeats of The Middle (5.76 million viewers; A18-49: 1.5/5), Better With You (4.53 million viewers; A18-49: 1.3/4) and back-to-back repeats of Modern Family (5.87 million; A18-49: 2.1/6) and Cougar Town (3.27 million viewers; A18-49: 1.3/4).

Last and very least was The CW with back-to-back repeats of The Vampire Diaries (1.31 million viewers; A18-49: 0.5/1).
