We got another history lesson on this week's episode of Revenge. Many years ago, a reporter named Leo Treadwell was reporting on the David Clarke trial. He visited a young Amanda Clarke, who told him she thought her father was innocent. He agreed and vowed to tell the truth. But Treadwell's book on the David Clarke saga "might as well have been written by the Graysons" Emily explained. He went on to become a successful writer (now named Mason Treadwell) under Victoria's sponsorship.
Now Mason has come to the Hamptons for some readings and Emily remembers meeting him when he was younger. To punish him for his role in the conspiracy, she burned down his precious house, artifacts and memoirs. The show also dropped a huge bombshell by revealing that Charlotte is really David Clarke's daughter.
Meanwhile, Daniel wanted access to his trust, which included shares to his father's company. By combining his shares with his mother's shares, he and Victoria could gain control of Grayson Global. His father agreed to release his money, but said he couldn't access his shares until he turned 30 or got married. Daniel couldn't age any faster, so he thought the best course of action would be proposing to Emiliy, since he loved her anyways. Naturally, Victoria was less than pleased. Daniel will actually be popping the big question in the January 18 episode of Revenge. He plans a romantic proposal that gets rained in, but ABC warns that it may have "dire, long-term ramifications". Ominous! Jack will also be betrayed by someone he loves, leaving his life in danger. And Charlotte is not happy about having to move back home with Victoria.
