The Mindy Project Season 3 Episode 10 Review: “What About Peter?”

The Mindy Project 3.10

We need to talk about Peter.  This man-child hit his lowest point last night on The Mindy Project when his living situation was revealed.  Considering it was recently announced that Adam Pally is leaving the show, this is clearly the beginning of the end.

Seriously, he’s a 30-something year old doctor living with 3 equally immature roommates who are only introduced to Mindy by their college nicknames.  It’s a shame that he hasn’t had luck in the love department but he has a lot of growing up to do first.  Thanks to Mindy, Danny allowed Peter to rent his second apartment.  Of course Peter insisted on always hanging out next door with Danny and Mindy (including using Danny’s shower, but honestly that was a funny mix up.)  That part just bothered me because it defeated the whole purpose of having an apartment of his own for the first time.

Once Peter’s gone I’ll be glad to see Jeremy get more storylines like this episode.  He gets stuck babysitting his girlfriend Lauren’s baby.  Luckily Morgan insisted on helping him and between the two guys, they got the baby to sleep.  Jeremy doesn’t necessarily have a magic touch when it comes to babysitting, only delivering them.  I just hope he doesn’t let the scary revelation that this could be his future ruin his relationship with Lauren.

Last but not least, Mindy and Danny talked about moving in together.  Only because Mindy heard from Danny’s repair guy that he asked about knocking down the wall in the future to make room for family.  Naturally she jumped to the conclusion that he was ready to ask her to move in, and when she blabbed about it, he got freaked out.  Mindy’s reaction was calm and cool on the surface.  Much more so than I thought it would have been when Danny said he was thinking about his Ma moving in with him when she gets older.  She said she’ll be fine no matter what, and down the line when he’s not so nervous anymore, he can move in with her if he chooses.

Mindy and Danny aren’t always on the same page in their relationship this season.  It’s easy to predict a break up before an engagement or anything, but I hope that’s not the case.  A hospitalized and drug-induced Peter slipped and accidentally called Mindy “Diane” when telling Danny to go get her.  Nice Cheers reference there.  Hopefully it’s just a nod to the classic since Rhea Perlman is a new fixture on The Mindy Project and not a sign of where this relationship is headed.
