Tonight on Revolution: Will the Cause of the Blackout Be Revealed? (Sneak Peeks)

When Revolution chose to jump 15 years into the future to tell its story (with a few flashbacks to the days/months/years after the blackout), many fans were left wondering "what caused the earth to lose its power?"

Tonight's all new episode will finally give us our first glimpse of an answer and, unsurprisingly, it has to do with those USB pendants that Ben was carrying.  As you can see from the preview below, we'll see flashbacks of Ben in the days before the power was lost.  But did he and his colleagues actually cause the blackout?  If so, will reuniting all of the pendants finally get the power working again?  According to what showrunner Eric Kripke told EW, the cause of the blackout was run by a physicist and should pass scientific scrutiny.  Not only that, but expect it to be even worse than you thought: "The sweet spot is to find an answer that’s actually scarier than what you were thinking," Kripke says. "Like, 'Oh wait, this is not even just about electricity.' And that’s what we’re designing. I don’t see any reason to withhold it much longer."

Meanwhile, General Monroe is still determined to get the power up and running again and has decided to "encourage" Rachel to help him by telling her that he's been torturing some of her friends to get more information on the pendants.

Watch a trailer and sneak peek below for tonight's all new episode of Revolution airing at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
