Elton John, Zach Galifianakis to Host SNL

It seems as if Saturday Night Live is looking toward an established funny guy and a rock veteran in order to finish out its 36th season strongly.

Following Miley Cyrus's first stint as a host on March 5th, comedian Zach Galifianakis will be hosting his second show on March 12th, according to TV Guide. Galifianakis returns to the stage almost exactly a year after a well received first time in March 2010, this time to promote the sequel to The Hangover. Joining Galifianiakis will be British pop/r&b newcomer Jessie J, presumably performing her single "Price Tag" and hoping for a bit of Adele-like magic to jump start her career.

After two weeks of repeats, April will see the return of Sir Elton John, who hasn't been on the SNL stage in nearly 30 years, according to TV Squad. John may not be a comedian in the traditional sense of the word, but anyone who has seen the rock royalty in interviews and personal appearances knows that he's quite cheeky. Will it translate into a good sketch show? I'm not sure; Elton seems like he'd be funnier just sitting down over lunch and having a conversation, but I wouldn't be surprised if he does wonderfully. John will also be performing on the April 2nd broadcast, this time accompanied by Leon Russell.

What do you think about the hosting announcements? Do you think Galifianakis will have another strong outing? Will Elton John bring some new energy to the show? Who do you hope gets the final few hosting spots of the season?
