Fresh off the final Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Movie, as well as an appearance on Broadways "Succeed in Business Without Really Trying", twenty-two year old Daniel Radcliffe is stepping up as SNL host (with musical guest Lana Del Ray).

Saturday Night Live cast member Jason Sudeikis joins Radcliffe in some promos for this weekend's episode. The gags are typical, but amusing. "[Harry Potter....] these are sex movies, right?" Sudeikis asks. "No, they're about wizards" Radcliffe replies. "Oh" Sudeikis nods, "Sex wizards?"

Watch the trailer below and don't miss Radcliffe's SNL gig on Saturday, January 14 at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC.

Review - Radiohead's SNL, Colbert Report Performances

Perhaps to stir interest for next year's planned tour, Radiohead have been making the television circuit over the past few days. Saturday night saw them playing a two-song set for Saturday Night Live's season premiere, while Tuesday night saw them performing four songs on Comedy Central's faux news show The Colbert Report. But did songs from this year's album The King of Limbs make a smooth transition to television? As a Radiohead fan myself, I'm leaping at the opportunity to discuss the band's sets at length.

The answer is yes, though one performance was far superior to the other.

Saturday's appearance on SNL wasn't the groundbreaking performance I thought it would be, mostly due to awful sound mixing. Most notably, bassist Colin Greenwood could barely be heard. Other issues from the performance involved Thom Yorke's vocals, which seemed a little shaky during their first song, "Lotus Flower" (perhaps he was a little distracted by the bad mixing). Things improved drastically with "Staircase," though, and the band exited the SNL stage after a fairly satisfying performance.

When the band appeared on The Colbert Report on Tuesday, they seemed much more comfortable musically. They began the set on a highly positive note, with the already beloved B-side "The Daily Mail," a slow building rock song that, at under three minutes, was perfect for the time constraints of television.

Interestingly, they followed "The Daily Mail" with the much less accessible "Bloom." If you've heard the studio version of the song, you can guess how difficult it can be to perform live. But, as they did earlier this year with their From the Basement special, the band pulled it off flawlessly. And, thankfully, we could hear Colin Greenwood actually playing the bass.

Their third song, "Little By Little," was approached differently from other live versions of the song, with focus being more on the guitar parts rather than the rhythm. That configuration didn't quite hold up when you compare it to From the Basement, though casual listeners will likely be unable to spot any main differences.

Then, suprisingly, the band ended the set with a rousing version of "The National Anthem." Unlike all five songs mentioned above, "The National Anthem" is over ten years old -- it initially appeared on the groundbreaking studio album Kid A. A rock song, probably intended to appease the younger skewing Colbert audiences, "The National Anthem" was the perfect way to end the hourlong special, though unfortunately the tail part of the song was cut off by the credits. Not to worry, though, because the song will be available on The Colbert Report's website on Wednesday, along with a live track that was recorded but didn't make it into the final cut of the episode.

Radiohead on SNL: B-

Radiohead on The Colbert Report: A

Alec Baldwin Host, Radiohead Musical Guests for Saturday Night Live Season Opener

Radiohead will be the musical guests for the September 24 premiere of Saturday Night Live's thirty-seventh season, alongside host Alec Baldwin, according to USA Today.

The English rock band, which in February released its eighth studio album, The King of Limbs, previously appeared on the show eleven years ago during its twenty-sixth season, appearing alongside host Kate Hudson. Being the major Radiohead fan that I am, I'm hoping to see an inclusion of the unreleased song "The Daily Mail," one of their most powerful tracks in years. (Also hoping for either "Lotus Flower" or "Separator" from The King of Limbs.)

The episode will be the sixteenth time that Baldwin has hosted the show, making him the most frequent host (he previously shared the title with comedian Steve Martin).

The next week's episode of the show will feature Mike & Molly actress Melissa McCarthy as the host, alongside musical guests Lady Antebellum. McCarthy recently appeared in the film Bridesmaids alongside SNL cast member Kristen Wiig.

Saturday Night Live's thirty-seventh season will premiere on September 24. All cast members from the previous season are returning. CollegeHumor's Sarah Schneider is also joining the writing staff for the series on a full-time basis this season.

Former SNL star Tina Fey will be returning for a third time as host on the May 7 episode. Joining her as musical guest will be Ellie Goulding, who will be making her debut on the late night show. Goulding's "Lights," was the best selling debut album of 2010 in Britain and premiered at number one on the U.K. album charts.

On May 14, Ed Helms (star of The Office and The Hangover) will be making his hosting debut on Saturday Night Live. Joining him as musical guest will be Paul Simon, who has appeared seven previous times as musical guest on the show. Simon will appear to promote his first album in five years: "So Beautiful or So What".

Finally, the season finale of SNL will be airing on May 21, and Justin Timberlake, who has hosted on 3 previous occasions, has been tapped as the season finale host. Joining him will be Lady Gaga, who I think needs no introduction. Gaga's latest album, "Born This Way", will be released on May 23.

Deadline is reporting that Oscar winner Helen Mirren will be making her Saturday Night Live hosting debut on April 9th. Mirren's musical guest will be the Foo Fighters, merely a few weeks after Dave Grohl's Glee comments caused a serious kerfuffle. Her episode will air the week after previously announced first time host Elton John's episode.

Mirren will be the fourth Oscar winner to host this season, joining Gwyneth Paltrow, Robert De Niro, and Jeff Bridges. It should be fun to see how Dame Mirren does handling live comedy. Even though she's got such wonderful presence on, say, the red carpet, I'm not sure if being a naturally funny person will make for great sketch performances. Regardless of how she does, I believe she'll be one of the most game hosts the show has had this season and a whole lot of fun to watch, especially given her penchant for choosing more serious roles.

What do you think about Helen Mirren hosting the show? What sketches do you think she'd likely do well in? Do you think she has the comedy chops to do a good job? What other Oscar winners do you think should take the leap and try hosting the show?

Charlie Sheen Reacts to SNL Spoof

It's hard for me to not like Charlie Sheen. He's so over the top, so crazy, that it's hard for me to not think he's just screwing with us, Joaquin Phoenix style. And even if he isn't, which is equally (if not much more) possible, he certainly seems to realize just how over-the-top he is. At this point, we're not seeing self-destruction; we're seeing flat out crazy.

So after today's news that Sheen was fired from his starring role in the immensely popular sitcom Two and a Half Men, it's great to see that at least he's happy about something. In this case, it's about Bill Hader's absolutely hilarious caricature of him in this weekend's Saturday Night Live.

In the cold open of the Miley Cyrus/Strokes episode, Hader portrayed Sheen on the set of his new talk show, Duh! Winning! as he interviewed recent newsmongers such as Moaamar Gadhafi (Fred Armisen) and John Galliano (Taran Killam). The sketch was, in my opinion, side-splittingly funny at points, though by the time Sheen offered Lindsay Lohan (Cyrus) a vial of baby urine, it was growing a little... mellow.

Sheen, however, really loved it. Hader apparently got the opportunity to gauge Sheen's reaction. "He liked it," Hader shared with MTV. "Charlie reacted to it and really liked it and I never met him before, so that's good."

"Colin Jost and Seth Myers and John Mulaney wrote that sketch, and ... it was smart in the way that I never felt like it was hard to get the voice down, but his attitude that he's owning this and that you should own it to all these other people was really smart," he added. "It was an interesting ... smart take on it. It all happened so fast."

Elton John, Zach Galifianakis to Host SNL

It seems as if Saturday Night Live is looking toward an established funny guy and a rock veteran in order to finish out its 36th season strongly.

Following Miley Cyrus's first stint as a host on March 5th, comedian Zach Galifianakis will be hosting his second show on March 12th, according to TV Guide. Galifianakis returns to the stage almost exactly a year after a well received first time in March 2010, this time to promote the sequel to The Hangover. Joining Galifianiakis will be British pop/r&b newcomer Jessie J, presumably performing her single "Price Tag" and hoping for a bit of Adele-like magic to jump start her career.

After two weeks of repeats, April will see the return of Sir Elton John, who hasn't been on the SNL stage in nearly 30 years, according to TV Squad. John may not be a comedian in the traditional sense of the word, but anyone who has seen the rock royalty in interviews and personal appearances knows that he's quite cheeky. Will it translate into a good sketch show? I'm not sure; Elton seems like he'd be funnier just sitting down over lunch and having a conversation, but I wouldn't be surprised if he does wonderfully. John will also be performing on the April 2nd broadcast, this time accompanied by Leon Russell.

What do you think about the hosting announcements? Do you think Galifianakis will have another strong outing? Will Elton John bring some new energy to the show? Who do you hope gets the final few hosting spots of the season?

Actress, singer, and tabloid target Miley Cyrus has been tapped to host the March 5th episode of Saturday Night Live, according to TV Guide. It'll be her first time hosting the show, but she won't be pulling double duty as there's an as-of-yet unnamed musical guest scheduled to join her. The show will go on a two week break after tomorrow's episode with Russell Brand with Cyrus being the first new episode back. Past hosts this season have included Paul Rudd, Amy Poehler, and Jim Carrey.

This isn't that bad of a move for Cyrus. It's plain as day that she's been trying to shed her Hannah Montana image, whether it be through slightly edgier material or the choices she makes in her personal life, so hosting something like Saturday Night Live could be a place for her to satirize herself and make people see her as an adult for likely the first time. She wouldn't be the first teen queen to make an appearance on the show, obviously, and their track record isn't as bad as one might think. Britney Spears got to lampoon rumored breast implants and thrash her child star past, Christina Aguilera delivered the best Samantha Jones impression I've ever heard, and Taylor Swift was able to get in a few digs at her torrid love life in a recent episode. Like pretty much any episode these days, I think Cyrus will live and die by the writing; if the writers show up for her episode, I think she could really surprise some people and show that she's capable of being more than just a Disney diva.

Will you be watching the episode that Miley will be hosting? How do you think she'll do? Are there any other teen stars that you think would do well as hosts?

Of course, the movie is perhaps equal parts fact and fiction, but I loved it all the same (having read The Accidental Billionaires a few months ago). The Social Network was successful for many reasons, not the least of which includes the great cast. Justin Timberlake and Andrew Garfield are great, but perhaps the most notable standout of the film is Jesse Eisenberg, who played Mark Zuckerberg in the film. Eisenberg, also known for his roles in Zombieland and Adventureland, will be hosting Saturday Night Live in two weeks, it was announced recently.

The twenty-seven-year-old Eisenberg will appear alongside musical guest Nicki Minaj for the episode. Eisenberg will naturally be promoting The Social Network as part of the build-up to the Academy Awards, while Minaj will be promoting her debut album Pink Friday, which hit back in November (most will probably remember Minaj from her memorable guest verse on Kanye West's dark hit "Monster").

Eisenberg's January 29th hosting gig will be followed on February 4th by SNL alum Dana Carvey (here's hoping for a return of the Church Lady!), who will be joined by yes-they're-still-around musical guests Linkin Park.

Next week's SNL will be a repeat of the Robert de Niro/Diddy Dirty Money episode from back in December.

I mainly watch it for the musical guests (perhaps the most reliable part of the show), but I also watch it with the hopes of finding sketches that stick out to me as being pretty funny (looking for anything beyond that is just wishful thinking). Thankfully, this episode had several. I'm going to go a different route with this review and point out my favorites:

FOX News Tries to Go Sane

I'm not a big fan of FOX News at all - Jon Stewart is right in calling it entertainment before news, in my opinion. This opening sketch was geared toward me, though -- I found it hilarious. Jason Sudeikis was suprisingly spot on as Glenn Beck, as was Kristen Wiig as Greta van Susteren. The best part, though, was of course Bill Hader as political analyst James Carville (a spot-on impersonation), who bugged the panel of FOX's elite with his tales of vegan restaurant to avoid eating animals, which are just "people with fur." It was a solid start to the episode.

Digital Short

Andy Samberg's growing elusive these days -- I only spotted him in two sketches tonight, and this was one of them. Of course, Samberg wasn't the best part of this Digital Short. Nor was it Pee Wee Herman, who made a surprising and incredibly funny turn as a shot-downing, chair-flinging version of himself. No, the funniest part of the short was Anderson Cooper, who made a completely surprising appearance that ended with him trying to sit on Pee-wee's giant anthropomorphic chair and being jilted off as the chair told him to "get the f**k off me!"

The Bar Mitzvah

Again, I didn't expect this one to be funny, but it was (if overdone). Fred Armisen was typical (all his roles seem the same), but it was the guest stars who really stole the show. Jay Pharaoh popped up as a convincing Jay-Z -- that guy can do impersonations with the best of them -- and Cee-Lo Green made an appearance singing about how the subject of the Bar Mitzvah was good at speaking Hebrew (to the tune of "F**k You"). The appearance by Paltrow as Taylor Swift? The sketch could have done without.

Paterson Spitzer

Did I say that Armison's roles get a little repetitive? True as that may be, all is forgiven when he plays former New York governor David Paterson, who manages to make me laugh simply from Armisen's squinty-eyed impersonation. The character is one-note, but that's sort of what makes him great. You know he's going to throw in a dig at New Jersey, but it's fun to anticipate how long it will take for that to happen. Hader was reliable as Spitzer, who only managed to elicit a chuckle from me with his recurring joke of the high-five with Paterson.

Those three were really my favorite sketches. There were more that were somewhat funny,

The Lonely Island made a return appearance this past weekend with a new digital short video. This time Akon makes a guest appearance to lend his vocals to the track which - no offense to Samberg - kind of makes the song better. The song is about as useless and self-explanatory as another digital short entitled "I'm on a Boat", but that's the beauty of it. The tune is actually so catchy I keep singing it over and over in my head. Blake Lively and Jessica Alba also make guest appearances as the "lucky ladies" who just had sex with the Lonely Island boys.

FYI, I think we can pretty much assume from the title alone (and one bad word), that it's really NSFW.

This afternoon we have the first promo for this weekend’s SNL with Jeff Bridges and the all-star musical pairing of Eminem and Lil Wayne! Jeff’s first solo turn hosting the show is coming to you live this Saturday the 18th at 11:30 pm/10:30c.

SNL's TSA Skit

Saturday Night Live touched on a trendy topic with this skit on the TSA airline screening process - particularly the touchy-feely grope down that has so many travelers upset this holiday season. Seems Thanksgiving at Grandma's now requires a rite of passage: either a full body nearly-nude scan for all of your fellow travelers to ogle at, or a pat down that includes breast fondling and two trips up your inner thighs for the lucky(?) TSA agent on duty's hands. Saturday Night Live is turning anxiety into laughs, though, with this video that suggests the TSA screening process may be just a cheap thrill for the lonely.

In reality the whole TSA screening thing has gotten pretty awkward, if not creepy. There have been those wonderful stories of Colostomy bags being ruptured, TSA agents demanding travelers remove prosthetic breasts, and any number of cringe worthy anecdotes.

SNL Character Mash-Ups

Remember when you couldn't wait for Saturday night to get here so you could get your weekly fix of political satire and gut-busting comedy sketches? No? If you dig really far back into the recesses of your mind you may find a vague recollection of those days gone by.

The humor level is dropping so consistently week after week, the occasional gem aside, that after watching the depressingly unfunny Scarlett Johannsen episode this week, I'm thinking Saturday Night Live should consider having its name changed to Still Not Laughing.

Sure, SNL's creativity has always fluctuated with cast changes, and of course it takes some time to gel with the writers and get characters down, etc., I get that. But I just cant stomach the thought of having to sit through another round of "What's Up With That" or that nebbish Mexican talk show Fred Armisen hosts.

It seems anymore like SNL only perks up whenever former cast members are invited to return for cameos or revive former hit characters, such as Tina Fey did as Sarah Palin last season.

This got me thinking. SNL loves to do specials. So why not do a series of prime-time episodes, similar to how they did back in 2008, where they bring back former cast members to revisit classic SNL characters in a new series of mash-up sketches?

Just off the top of my head, here are some epic crossovers I'd like to see:

The Church Lady interviews Sarah Palin and Tiger Woods - The Church Lady (Dana Carvey) hurls her trademark judgmental zingers at both Palin (Tina Fey) and Woods (Kenan Thompson) before inviting them in for a group superior dance.

The Coneheads visit the Jersey Shore - Snooki (Bobby Moyhihan) lures Beldar (Dan Akroyd) into the hot tub and tries to make-out with him, while Prymatt (Jane Curtin) attempts to make sense of The Situation's (Bill Hader) otherworldly abs.

The Spartan Cheerleaders and One-Legged Amber - Amber (Amy Poehler) rocks her one leg in a hopscotch competition while Craig and Ariana (Will Ferrell, Cheri Oteri) cheer her on. I can already hear Ariana shouting to Alexis in the stands that Amber's farts are "kinda stinky."

Bret Michaels and Hot Girl Shanna stop by Wayne's World - Wayne and Garth (Mike Myers, Dana Carvey) fawn over rock legend Michaels (Jason Sudekis), who tells them he's ready to settle down with Shanna (Kristen Wigg). They initially "schwing," but then threaten to "hurl" and "spew" over her gross-out ways.

Land Shark makes a call upon George W. Bush - LandShark (Chevy Chase) taunts and then devours Bush (Will Ferrell). No further explanation needed here I think.

SNL Digital Short - The Laser Cats recruit Toonces the Driving Cat to fly their spaceship.

Mary Katherine Gallagher meets the Glee Kids - Mary (Molly Shannon) transfers to McKinley High and challenges Mercedes (Kenan Thompson) for a solo in Glee Club while trying to make out with Kurt (Andy Samberg), Artie (Fred Armisen) and Mr. Shue (Jason Sudekis).

Of course, this wouldn't do anything about the quality of the regular weekly episodes, but it sure would go a long way in putting some juice back into the brand.

What do you think? Any other character mash-ups you'd like to see?

It wasn’t the best skit, but it had its moments. Lynch didn’t seem to get a lot of awesome one-liners that she regularly gets on the show, but they got a lot of humorous cheap shots at the various Glee characters, portrayed by other SNL actors (Mr. Shue does seem to sing a lot considering he’s not even in the club, now that they mention it…).

I didn’t actually catch most of the episode, but I did see the skit with the guy playing Denzel Washington. Did you see that? The one at Macy’s? I don’t know the name of that actor, but I thought he did a terrific impersonation of Denzel and had his voice down pat.

Lynch also sang the "new Glee theme song" in her opening monologue, which you can also view below.

Betty White to Host SNL For First Time at 88

Some could say that this news has been 88 years in the making. It has been announced that Betty White will host Saturday Night Live's Mother's Day Special on May 8, along with Saturday Night alumns Tina Fey, Molly Shannon, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Ana Gasteyer and Rachel Dratch. But wait, is Betty White even a mom? The answer is no, White has no children of her own, only a golden retriever, but SNL executive producer Lorne Michaels says she's the perfect Mother's Day host because "she's the mother of us all in comedy, so it will be a celebration of Betty White."

Although it marks White's first ever hosting gig on the show, and puts her as the oldest host ever (she's 88), it's not exactly Lorne Michael's fault. He told USA Today that he was turned down by White three times in the past and has always wanted her on the show.

The recent explosion of interest in White hosting SNL came after a hilarious Super Bowl commercial for Snickers in which Betty White was seen tackled while playing football. You can check the commercial out for yourself below.

After the commercial aired a Facebook campaign was launched to get White on the show. Michaels was all for the interest and publicity, ""It isn't something we would have said no to," he says. "It was the outpouring of affection from fans, and we feel the same way."

So why has Betty White refused the hosting gig in the past, and what made her change her mind this time?

"It's so New York, and I'm not New York at all," she says. "But my agent said he'd divorce me if I didn't do it, and I love my agent."

You can watch the always hilarious Betty White on the May 8 episode of Saturday Night Live. Don't forget to watch or set your Tivos!

While making fun of the allegations of spousal abuse - Elin supposedly beat the heck out of Woods prior to him getting into his accident - was probably a bit risque to begin with, the controversy is centered on the fact that SNL's musical guest was Rhianna, a high profile victim of domestic violence. Some critics are saying that the it was the timing of the sketch that made it tasteless. Others say if Tiger were a woman, nobody would be making jokes. Still more, hopefully the majority, are thinking it's not such a bad thing for us to suspend our cynicism once and a while and laugh at the things that scare and trouble us the most. Just saying. Here is the skit.

Yowza. So, standards and practices folks are no-doubt having a heart attack over this about now, but don't worry - it's not illegal. Whether NBC will be upset or not from a production standpoint is another matter entirely, but according to the FCC the f-word is perfectly okay after 10pm - networks have just tried to maintain good taste over the matter.

According to the FCC "The “safe harbor” refers to the time period between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., local time. During this time period, a station may air indecent and/or profane material." Obscene material, though, is not allowed. Further more, the FCC considers user of the 'F-Word' to fit the "Indecent/Profane" definition, but not obscene. So NBC and their affiliates are off the hook for this Saturday Night Live boo-boo, unless a new precedent is set.

A few years back NBC got into hot-water when U2's Bono got all potty mouthed on the Golden Globes. The matter rought some pretty heavy condemnation for NBC, and put other broadcasters on notice. It did not, however, redefine the 'safe harbor' of 10pm to 6am.

So, maybe a good question here is: was this slip-up an accident, or a publicity stunt? Whether it was on purpose or not, it is definitely getting Saturday Night Live some attention.

This Saturday at 11:30 pm Saturday Night Live will kick off its 425th season on television. Okay, actually its only the 35 season of the late night comedy sketch show, but who's really keeping count anymore. I could have stuck with 425th and half of you would have believed me (a friend actually had to convince me that it wasn't the 425th season). This season will kick off with the lucid fantasy of men all over this planet, Megan Fox. Coming off her just released horror/slasher/high school comedy movie Jennifer's Body, which hasn't done quite as well as expected, Fox will give us all a good look at her comedy chops, and show us just how good she is at reading off a cue card that someone is obviously holding just to the left of the camera.

In perfect SNL fashion, we have the promotional clips that Fox did for the premiere below, the first of which touts the episode as being one of the sexiest ever, if you're in to sexy sandwich eating that is. The third clip in the reel is by far the funniest, but any discussion involving Megan Fox's boob, no matter where it might be placed, is bound to be comedy gold, right? So enjoy the promotional clip below and let us know what you think of Megan Fox and if you're planning on watching her debut on Saturday Night Live this weekend. I know I'll be watching. And just to get you all in the spirit of things, we've included a nice little Megan Fox gallery of photos. Maybe she'll even wear some of these outfits on SNL.

The creative arts portion of the Emmy's, which is widely for the awards that didn't make the cut of twenty-eight awards to be handed out over television, was held tonight, and NBC's Saturday Night Live came out on top, with both Justin Timberlake and Sarah Palin Tina Fey receiving awards for their appearances on SNL -- Fey for her recurring role as Palin, and Timberlake for his multiple roles during his hosted episodes, including his roles in sketches by the parody troupe The Lonely Island.

Fey beat out two people from her own show 30 Rock to get the Emmy, though the show won two more awards before the night was through. During her acceptance speech, she thanked SNL creator Lorne Michaels, as well as her parents, "lifelong Republicans," for their patience.

Other people walked away with Emmy awards as well. For the award for best guest star, the awards went to Ellen Burstyn for NBC's Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Michael J. Fox for Rescue Me on FX. HBO's Grey Gardens came away with three awards, while South Park walked away with the award for best animated program under one hour, beating The Simpsons, FOX's ten-time winner. However, Dan Castellaneta, who voices Homer Simpson won an Emmy for the role.

The rest of the Emmys will be handed out on September 20.

This time, two cast members have been dropped in exchange for two fresh faces, just before SNL's thirty-fifth season is slated to kick off.

Michaela Watkins (pictured right) and Casey Wilson, both relative newcomers to SNL, were given the boot by executive producer Lorne Michaels. They will be replaced in season 35 by Jenny Slate and Nasim Pedrad, keeping the male/female ratio the same as it was last season.

Casey Wilson hasn't said much about the firing, but Michaela Watkins has been very vocal -- and not in the way you might think. "They hired two new gals that I think are going to be exquisite," Watkins told Entertainment Weekly. "I don’t have any regrets."

So why exactly was she fired? "I honestly don’t know. What he said is he’s trying to get what’s best for him and best for me," she said, stating, "The only explanation I got from him — and he’s not known to say things just to make people feel better — was that he felt deep down that I should have my own show. And I agreed."

CNN is also reporting that Darrel Hammond, the cast member with the longest tenure on the show, is still negotiating his return to the show, casting just a little doubt into whether the veteran will return to the SNL stage.

Saturday Night Live will return with its thirty-fifth season on September 26. Among those expected to return with it are favorites Andy Samberg, Kenan Thompson, Kristin Wiig, Bill Hader, and Will Forte, as well as Seth Meyers for Weekend Update.
