Miley Cyrus to Host Saturday Night Live

Well, sweet niblets, you guys! Actress, singer, and tabloid target Miley Cyrus has been tapped to host the March 5th episode of Saturday Night Live, according to TV Guide. It'll be her first time hosting the show, but she won't be pulling double duty as there's an as-of-yet unnamed musical guest scheduled to join her. The show will go on a two week break after tomorrow's episode with Russell Brand with Cyrus being the first new episode back. Past hosts this season have included Paul Rudd, Amy Poehler, and Jim Carrey.

This isn't that bad of a move for Cyrus. It's plain as day that she's been trying to shed her Hannah Montana image, whether it be through slightly edgier material or the choices she makes in her personal life, so hosting something like Saturday Night Live could be a place for her to satirize herself and make people see her as an adult for likely the first time. She wouldn't be the first teen queen to make an appearance on the show, obviously, and their track record isn't as bad as one might think. Britney Spears got to lampoon rumored breast implants and thrash her child star past, Christina Aguilera delivered the best Samantha Jones impression I've ever heard, and Taylor Swift was able to get in a few digs at her torrid love life in a recent episode. Like pretty much any episode these days, I think Cyrus will live and die by the writing; if the writers show up for her episode, I think she could really surprise some people and show that she's capable of being more than just a Disney diva.

Will you be watching the episode that Miley will be hosting? How do you think she'll do? Are there any other teen stars that you think would do well as hosts?
