According to TVLine, House alum Lisa Edelstein will be soon seeking the aid of Olivia Pope and her band of gladiators. The actress is set to guest star on an upcoming episode of Scandal as a client of Pope & Associates, though the exact reason she’s coming to the noted Washington fixer has yet to be disclosed.
Edelstein’s arrival comes following the conclusion of the election rigging arc that made the ABC drama the hot topic of conversation at the pop culture water cooler. For the back nine of the 22-episode order, the show is said to be turning its eyes back to the case-of-the-week format of the first season, though over the course of those seven episodes, the show did become more serialized.
Judging from the preview of the next episode, airing this week, it looks like the latest case that will gradually envelope Scandal involves someone close to home, making complicated relationships even more complex and helping to determine just who in the Scandal-verse are allies and who’ll be willing to let their enemy hang.
In addition to her role as Dr. Lisa Cuddy on the long-running FOX medical drama, Edelstein has appeared on the likes of The Good Wife, Childrens Hospital, and Elementary. She can next be seen in a two-episode arc on Showtime’s House of Lies as a sexy political consultant who the main character comes across while on assignment.
Why do you think Edelstein’s character has come to Olivia for help? With all the drama surrounding her life, will Olivia even be able to help? Do you prefer Scandal to focus on a case-of-the-week, a long-running arc (a’la the attempted assassination and election rigging), or some combination of the two?
