Details for the second episode of Sherlock series 2, titled "The Hounds of the Baskerville," have begun to emerge. The episode, which airs in the UK on January 8, will be adapted from Arthur Conan Doyle's iconic novel The Hound of the Baskervilles, though interestingly, the plural has been shifted around.
A BBC press release for the episode strangely doesn't seem to clarify why that is: "A Hound from Hell. A terrified young man. Sherlock’s most famous case. But is a monster really stalking Dartmoor?"
"Something terrible has happened to Henry Knight," the press release continues. "Sherlock and John investigate the truth about the monstrous creature which apparently killed their client’s father. But what seems like fantasy in Baker Street is a very different prospect in the ultra-secret army base that looms over Dartmoor..."
Sounds pretty scary, no? It'll be interesting to see how Sherlock tackles such an iconically scary story. We do know that Being Human's Russell Tovey will appear as Henry Knight, who will likely take the place of Henry Baskerville from the original novel. Andrew Scott will also reprise his role as the flamboyant villain Moriarty in the episode.
Sherlock will return for its second series on New Year's Day with the episode "A Scandal in Belgravia." "The Hounds of the Baskerville" will be the second episode in the run, while January 15 will bring the third and final episode of the second series, "The Reichenbach Fall."
