Showtime: First Look at Masters of Sex and Ray Donovan

Masters of Sex ShowtimeThere may still be three weeks left in 2012, but Showtime has began preparing for the new year by releasing a first look at the next two dramas it will be premiering. Joining Dexter, Homeland, The Borgias, and Shameless on the Showtime drama slate are period piece Masters of Sex and Ray Donovan, the tale of a fixer in Los Angeles. Neither has a concrete premiere date as of yet, though both are confirmed to be debut sometime in 2013.

Starring Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan, Masters of Sex takes place in the 1960′s and follows real-life pioneers in the field of human sexuality, William Masters and Virginia Johnson, and the impact that their research had on the world. The show is based on the book ”Masters of Sex: The Life and Times of William Masters and Virginia Johnson, The Couple Who Taught America How To Love” and was created by The Pacific’s Michelle Ashford. Aside from Sheen and Caplan, Masters of Sex stars Caitlin Fitzgerald, Nicholas D’Agosto, Teddy Sears, Beau Bridges, and Margo Martindale.

Meanwhile, Liev Schreiber stars in Ray Donovan in the title role of a Los Angeles fixer that makes the problems of the city elite disappear. However, Ray doesn’t have it altogether himself and his father, bitter after being locked up for 20 years, getting released from prison won’t make things any easier. Aside from Schreiber, Ray Donovan, created by Southland’s Ann Biderman, stars Jon Voigt, Elliott Gould, Paula Malcomson, Eddie Marsan, and Dash Mihok.

With Dexter and Homeland set to end their current seasons on Sunday, December 16th, original programming will be taking a break on Showtime until Sunday, January 13th when Shameless, House of Lies, and Californication return for their next seasons.
