Smash Preview: Bombshell and the Gang Are Back, So What's Coming Next?
A lot happened in the season 2 premiere of Smash this week. The fate of Bombshell (which originally landed a celebrated Broadway theatre for its debut) is in question when the government placed the show under investigation after being tipped off about the source of Eileen's funding for the musical. The rivalry between Karen and Ivy continued until Karen had Ivy booted from the show and Ivy accepted the dismissal and apologized to Karen for sleeping with Dev.
Meanwhile, Julia's marriage finally ended and she was also reeling from the negative reviews about her script for Bombshell. And Karen discovered the songwriting duo of Jimmy and Kyle and wanted to help make their musical a reality, but Jimmy didn't want to accept any help from her and became angry when Kyle tried to arrange something with Karen behind his back. Later, a talking to by Kyle convinced Jimmy to mend fences with Karen.
In next week's episode we'll meet Ronnie's overbearing mother and Kyle and Jimmy are given an opportunity to write a song for one of Ronnie's performances. Julia also tries to get some insight about her script for Bombshell and ends up with an unexpected teacher. And looking ahead to the rest of the season, Bombshell finally hits Broadway, but Jimmy and Kyle's rival musical seems to give it a run for its money. Will Ivy step in to take the Marilyn role from Karen or will she head to the rival musical?
