Video - Smash Season 2 Premiere

Smash - Season 2Season one of Smash was, well, a smash, so it only makes sense that season 2 will be bigger and better.  With winter sweeps season officially kicking off next week, NBC is betting big on Smash giving it a two-hour premiere right off the bat, Tuesday February 5th at 9pm on NBC.  After the premiere, Smash will move to it's normal time-slot of 10pm on Tuesdays.

The plot is a full on sequel to the events of season one.  After the curtain closed, Bombshell's Boston run was a huge success, exceeding the wildest dreams of Eileen (Anjelica Huston), Tom and Julia, and last-minute star Karen Cartwright (Katharine McPhee) and Director Derek Wills (Jack Davenport).  However, the road to Broadway is littered with the fallout from the productions storied past; is Bombshell destined for Broadway, or a Bomb-shelter.

Eileen's risky parlaying of business and pleasure with Nick (Returning Guest Star Thorsten Kaye) will have lingering implications, and Julia will finally face the backlash of her infidelity when Frank confronts her.  Of course there is the primary rivalry between Ivy and Karen.  Karen won the role, but Ivy bed her fiancé in retaliation.

In terms of new plot lines, real-life Broadway big wigs Jeremy Jordan and Andy Mientus join Smash as Jimmy and Kyle, two producers developing a modern day rock musical that aims to eclipse Bombshell.  Could their play steal Bombshell's thunder?

In the official description for the double-premiere NBC promises that "A scandal puts Bombshell's fate in jeopardy, while new talent is discovered in an unexpected place. 'On Broadway' and 'The Fallout' air back-to-back in a special premiere event!"  So which Smash scandal could possibly rear its head? Take your pick, right?  For more on the Smash season 2 premiere, check out our preview here.
