I’m going to preface this post with a bit of padding so any casual browser won’t have the latest season of Sons of Anarchy spoiled for them. Ready? Okay then.
With that clear, I can now say that yes, Clay Morrow himself, Ron Perlman, is getting his own new show after being brutally killed off Sons of Anarchy last season. Here’s the TVLine blind item that inspired speculation about who it might have been coming back from the grave. And it was a Son of Anarchy, it turned out.
“A prospective new TV pilot just landed a big-time actor as its star, but the up-and-coming producer/writer behind the future series can’t pitch it to a single network. Heck, he can’t even discuss it with anyone — and that’s because there’s a spoiler bomb embedded within the top-secret project. You see, the headliner in question is currently starring on a popular hour-long drama series. And if word were to get out that he has committed himself to a new full-time gig, it could potentially ruin a major upcoming twist: his onscreen death.”
Perlman’s new show is Hand of God, which just got picked up by Amazon, and it’s being written by Burn Notice executive producer Ben Watkins. What’s it all about? According to Deadline “the project centers on the powerful Judge Harris Pernell (Perlman), a hard-living, law-bending married man with a high-end call girl on the side who has a religious awakening and starts hearing voices through his ventilator-bound son that could be God speaking to him.”
You know, that really does sound perfect for him. Can’t wait to hear more about it, and see more from it.
