Last season it was Dave Navarro, and this upcoming season of Sons of Anarchy, Kurt Sutter is recruiting yet another musician to join the cast for a guest spot. Marilyn Manson will appear as a white supremacist that “Jax uses to expand his power base.” His name is “Ron Tully” which is about as normal as “Marilyn Manson” is strange. No word on if he’ll be his fully make-upped self, or if he’ll be going for a different look to play the part.
Mason, for his part, is a huge fan of Sons of Anarchy, and is really excited about the role:
“Sons has been such a big part of my life, as well as my father’s,” said Manson. “So I was determined to make him proud by being involved in what will probably be remembered as the most amazing piece of television cinema. After all, the very heart of SOA is about that relationship. So, now all I need is a motorcycle.”
In my estimation, Sons of Anarchy isn’t really the greatest with its use of guest stars. Like seeing Dave Navarro last year was a little jarring, as was when Joel McHale randomly showed up in one episode as a con man, never to be seen again. The best guest star Sons has used has been Walton Goggins as the gang’s transvestite friend, but everyone else always seems a little out of place. I think Manson showing up might have the same effect, and I can’t say I’ve actually ever seen him act, so we’ll see how this goes.
What do you think? Cool guest star or weird casting decision?
