Sons of Anarchy 5.01 – “Sovereign” Pics and Joel McHale BTS Clip!

It’s almost here!  Tomorrow Sons of Anarchy will kick off its fifth season with the 90 minute episode “Sovereign”.  We’ve seen it and it is INCREDIBLE, look for our full review to be posted tomorrow morning.  To answer your most pressing question:  yes, Jax (Charlie Hunnam) does have YET another hair style, this time slicked back, and to top this trend he also got a facial hair trim.  The expanded episode feels even bigger than its running time, brimming with revenge, subterfuge, romance, violence … basically, it’s Sons of Anarchy. If you’re not familiar with what that brand means, tomorrow is as good a time as any to jump in. Honestly, you don’t have to be a die hard fan to have a good time with SOA — trust me, you can catch up later.

The most anticipated part of this new season of SOA is definitely the guest stars.  Jimmy Smits and Harold Perrineau are a custom fit for Sons of Anarchy, and just about anything else for that matter, but other names like Ashley Tisdale (The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, High School Musical) and Joel McHale (The Soup, Community) not so much. On that note, some of Sons’ most memorable guest stars (The Hoff, and Tom Arnold to name a few) were cast against type, so while Ashley and Joel might seem out of place on the surface, you can be sure that the Sons of Anarchy brain room knows exactly what to do with them.  To get a little inside scoop on McHale’s part, check out the clip below.  Mash the arrows up top to get a peek at promo pics from tomorrow’s episode.

And don’t forget to check out SOA creator Kurt Sutter’s (@sutterink) Season 5 Premiere Challenge with a prize for SOA fans that is over the top in coolness.

Sons of Anarchy “Sovereign” Premieres Tomorrow on FX at 10pm.
