Spartacus: War of the Damned Sneak Peek: Assessing the Warrior

spartacus war of the damnedThe legend of Spartacus and his tenacious band of rebel slaves has only grown in the months following the defeat of Glaber. Since the final sword was thrust into the Roman leader, the rebels have ran off a string of impressive victories and amassed an impressive number that could be a problem for the Romans. Even with his enormous personal reputation and known skill for rallying the troops, Spartacus has continually been underestimated by the nobles, but when we kick off Spartacus: War of the Damned, will he finally be taken seriously?

In a sneak peek from the premiere of Spartacus: War of the Damned, Spartacus and Agron are assessing the fighting skills of the newer people in their ranks. While having the numbers that they do has to be reassuring, the army won’t be able to win if they only rely on brute strength and aggression; they must have a strategy for handling the impending Roman attacks, though developing that ability to think and fight takes time and training. But do they have the time to train a huge number of soldiers? The Romans are indeed wobbling and trying to figure out how best to take out the upstart band of slaves, so they’re going to send the biggest, baddest, and best in military resources to help get the job done. The most advanced weaponry, the bloodthirstiest soldiers, the top strategists – it’ll all be there and then some. Can Spartacus and the other three generals help the rebels keep up with the improvements to the Roman army?

Spartacus: War of the Damned premieres Friday, January 25th at 9:00 on Starz. You can check out an additional sneak peek here, as well as a trailer for the season here and a look at the two forces on the battlefield here.

Will Spartacus find any warrior in his ever-expanding army that can match himself, Crixus, Gannicus, or Agron? Who do you think the two whispering figures were? Could the Romans be sending spies to see how far along the rebel army is in its training?
