Grant Bowler joins 'True Blood'

True Blood's third season is still a long way away, but that doesn't mean that every once in a while there won't be a few snippets of spoilers. Like this one: Grant Bowler has been cast for a role during the season.

Does that name sound familiar? Probably because you've seen him before, whether you're a sci-fi geek or a fashion fan. Bowler appeared during Lost's fourth season as Captain Gault, the chief officer aboard the freighter that caused our Island inhabitants so much trouble. However, he was usurped by Martin Keamy, who staged a mutiny and took control. Bowler also appears on ABC's Ugly Betty, as Connor Owens, whose body was recently said to have washed ashore in Panama.

That frees Bowler up for True Blood. It's not yet known which character the New Zealand-born actor will be playing -- he was very tight-lipped about the role when he spoke to Australia's Sunday Telegraph. 'Mate, it's HBO and it's the King," he said. "It's the chance to work for an Oscar-winner [series creator Allan Ball] and alongside an Oscar-winner [Anna Paquin]."

Bowler won't be the first Lost alumnus to appear on True Blood. Series star Carrie Preston (Arlene Fowler), whose husband Michael Emerson plays Benjamin Linus on Lost, briefly appeared in season three as Linus' mother. Actor William Sanderson, who plays Bud Dearborne on True Blood, guest starred in Lost's fifth season as the DHARMA interrogator Oldham.

True Blood's third season is expected to premiere in the summer of 2010.
