I spend a fair amount of my time talking to ex-athletes so this graphic really hit home. I feel like this is something that should be splattered all over the networks during commercials. The stories I’ve heard of players going broke after the NFL, NBA, and MLB and their lives are completely left in limbo. They have no money because they spent to much during their careers. They have no direction because all they know is football and don’t have many other interests.
But even the league of which they were a part is flat out telling them, “this is not likely going to be you so be prepared.” I guess I could say kudos to the NFL for posting this graphic but at the same time, I also know that the NFL does very little to educate their athletes on finance nor do they say much with regard to finding other interests.
Actually, this little graphic just might be the only thing the NFL has every really come up with. Come to think of it, I’m not even sure the NFL made this thing! If they didn’t they would probably sue the creators because of the use of their logo without authorization.
Anyway, what was my point again? Oh yeah, there’s very little chance of making the NFL.
