Starz Renews Kelsey Grammer's Boss for Second Season

Nearly a month before its highly anticipated debut, Kelsey Grammer's Boss has been renewed for a second season by Starz. The show's next 10 episodes will be going into production in early 2012.

Created by Farhad Safinia, Boss will mark Grammer's first venture into drama and his first series away from the confines of network television. (Grammer has previously starred in Cheers, Frasier, Back to You, and last season's short-lived Hank.) In Boss, he will be playing Chicago mayor Tom Kane, a man currently dealing with a serious health crisis and choosing to only let his physician know. The show will be featuring Connie Nielsen (Gladiator) as Tom's wife Meredith, Kathleen Robertson (Beverly Hills, 90210) as his assistant Kitty, and Hannah Ware (Cop Out) as his estranged daughter Emma.

Boss will be debuting October 21st at 10:00 with an episode directed by acclaimed filmmaker Gus Van Sant (Good Will Hunting, Milk). You can check out a trailer for the show here.

What do you think about the early renewal for Boss? Does this make you more likely to check the show out, knowing it'll be back? How do you think Grammer will handle dramatic television?
