First Trailer for Starz's Boss Released

There are some actors who stick to their comfort zone more often than not. While knowing what you do well and subsequently putting it to use is nothing to sneeze it, it can sometimes make taking a different role a little harder to believe. I mean, this person can't possible pull something off so polar opposite to what they've been doing for years upon years...right?

Boss focuses on smooth talking Chicago mayor Tom Kane, recently diagnosed with a neurological disorder. Having only told his physician, he has to find a way to keep up appearances with his family and do his job well without letting on that he's ill. However, one of his daughters just might suspect something. Playing this complicated, likely fascinating man?

Kelsey Grammer.

Yes, that Kelsey Grammer.

After years of starring in sitcoms, Grammer has taken on a dramatic role and judging by the trailer, he does so with some serious aplomb. Intimidating, powerful, and deceptively complex, Grammer's turn as a dark figure like Tom Kane could be a magnificent transformation for the Emmy winning actor, showcasing a level of new side to someone we already knew was talented.

Unfortunately, we'll have to wait a little while longer to see said transformation, as Boss premieres Friday, October 21st and co-stars Connie Nielsen (Gladiator) as Tom's wife, Kathleen Robertson (Beverly Hills, 90210) as Tom's aide, Hannah Ware (Cop Out) as Tom's daughter, and Jeff Hephner (The Water is Wide) as the Illinois State Treasurer.

Do you think Grammer will be believable as Tom Kane? How do you think the first trailer looks? Are you planning on watching Boss when it premieres?
