CONTEST – Supernatural Book “Heart of the Dragon”

Since my introduction to the world of Supernatural exactly 90 days ago (no, I don’t normally keep track of these sorts of things, I was just bored, remembered the date I watched my first episode and am capable of using a calculator), I’ve come to realize that the fandom goes waaaaay beyond the episodes. In addition to the fanfic (and let’s not talk about some subsections of it, even though we all know it exists), there’s also novelizations of the show. Keith R.A. DeCandido has been writing novels for TV shows – especially for Star Trek – and comics for many, many years and has done a few Supernatural novels in the past.

In mid-February, the newest Supernatural novel was released: Heart of the Dragon.

Twenty-seven years ago, Sam and Dean Winchester lost their mother to a mysterious and demonic supernatural force.

In the years after, their father, John, taught them about the paranormal evil that lives in the dark corners and on the back roads of America… and he taught them how to kill it.

When renegade angel Castiel alerts Sam and Dean to a series of particularly brutal killings in San Francisco’s Chinatown, they realize the Heart of the Dragon is back.

John Winchester faced the terrifying spirit 20 years ago, and the Campbell family fought it 40 years ago – can the boys succeed where their parents and grandparents failed?

A brand-new Supernatural novel that reveals a previously unseen adventure for the Winchester brothers, from the hit CW series!

I’ve read other Supernatural novels before (it’s been a busy 90 days), but what’s nice about this newest book is that it actually features long flashbacks with John Winchester and Mary Campbell (Winchester) and her family – all of which are characters that I really like and have been very interested in. Keith has a solid grasp of the characters and writes them well and his books always feature an original mystery populated with familiar and original characters. Overall, the book is a lot of fun and if you’re interested in learning more about the possible history of Sam and Dean’s family, then this is the book for you.

Titan Books has generously offered us 3 books to give away to our readers, so I’ve devised a little contest. Let’s make it an interesting one and pit the characters against each other. I myself am a DeanGirl, so I don’t want to be accused of choosing other Dean fans as winners.

Therefore, I’m going to give one book to a random Dean fan, one book to a random Sam fan, and one book to a random fan of any other character on the show.

Here’s the contests rules and guidelines:

Email me at clarissa@tvovermind.com with the following information:

  1. Send a photo of your favorite character (ie. if you’re a Dean fan or a Sam fan or a Bobby fan or whoever, identify yourself by sending me a picture of the character or actor who plays him/her). Don’t send me a link – attach a photo.
  2. Write “Supernatural Contest” in the subject line.
  3. Include your full name, city and province/state (you will be asked to provide your full address for shipping purposes if you win).

Contest is restricted to residents in Canada and the United States.

Draw will take place on Friday, April 9 at 5:00 p.m. EST.

Send me totally awesome pictures, people! Good luck!
