Good news, North American fans!  A release date for the anime series based on Supernatural (which had been released in Japan) has been announced.  The Supernatural animated series will be coming to Blu-ray and DVD in North American on June 26.

Here's all the details for you:

The Blu-ray and DVD will consist of 22 animated episodes of the show.  The Blu-ray will cost $54.97, while the DVD will retail for $49.98.  The series will also be available on demand and for download through various sources.

The animated series will feature new and existing storylines for the Winchester brothers and will resemble the story arcs of the first two seasons of Supernatural.  All other story arcs - including prequels and spin-offs - will fit into the overall Supernatural mythology.

The main characters have been modeled after the show's stars, Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, and the North American release has been translated into English.  Jared Padalecki will be voicing the character of Sam in all 22 episodes, while Jensen Ackles will voice Dean in select episodes.   Padalecki and Ackles will both be appearing in a short video introduction for each of the 22 episodes and will also appear in interviews in the bonus features (which also features interviews with Eric Kripke and the anime directors).  Other bonus features on the box sets will include a two-part featurette entitled "The Making of Supernatural: The Anime Series", which is a behind-the-scenes look of how Supernatural was transformed into the animated series.

If you're a Supernatural fan, then you don't want to miss out on this!  The series will be available for pre-order as of June 21.  Some of the episodes will also be screened at anime and entertainment conventions leading up to the release date on July 26 (maybe even at Comic Con?).
