This week's new episode of Supernatural promises to be heavy on the Sam angst, but it looks like next week will focus on Dean. As we know, Dean's carrying around a lot of guilt this season. He's got guilt about what Sam is currently going through, guilt for not being able to stop Castiel before he turned all evil and unleashed the leviathans on the world, and guilt about all the people he's lost along the way.
In the October 14 episode of Supernatural (entitled "Defending Your Life"), Dean's guilt comes to the forefront. In the episode, the brothers are investigating a string of murders and learn that the culprit is none other than the Egyptian god Osiris (guest star Faran Tahir). Osiris' MO is all about putting people on trial for their mistakes, judging their guilt and then murdering them if he deems them guilty.
Naturally, Dean's guilt is like a beacon to Osiris and he hones in on it, deciding to put Dean on trial next. Sam gets to realize his boyhood dream of playing lawyer when he steps up to defend his brother's life. But the Winchesters are both thrown when Osiris calls the ghost of Jo (guest star Alona Tal) to the stand. There's no doubt that Dean's carrying around a lot of guilt about the way Jo and Ellen died, so expect this episode to be very emotional.
