Supernatural Preview: Jeremy Carver Teases An Angel Rescue

SupernaturalSamandriel returns in this week's Supernatural.  The angel - last spotted in Crowley's clutches - will be tortured by the King of Hell and his followers in an attempt to learn more about angels.  Now that's a curious quest for information that Crowley is on.  Is this just an attempt to learn more about a demon's natural enemy or is there something larger at work here?

Whatever Crowley's reasons, Naomi reaches out to Castiel and asks him to help save the captured angel.  While Kevin continues to be busy trying to decode the tablet (the half they have, anyway), Castiel reaches out to Dean for help in his rescue mission.  And while the brothers are parted when the episode begins, it seems as if they come together soon enough.  Showrunner Jeremy Carver hints that "What is so powerful about episode 10 is that the boys are really, really faced with deciding, once and for all, what's most important going forward and where they stand in each other's lives."

Sure, they're going through a seriously rocky patch right now, but I have no doubt the two of them will choose each other when it comes down to it.  Hopefully accompanied by a sorely needed conversation to clear the air about past hurts.

Watch a producer's preview below for the January 16th episode of Supernatural.  You can also watch a sneak peek here and visit our Supernatural page for more about season 8.

I really hope you are right!

There was a time when I would have never doubted this, but now I’m just so unsure. I don’t mind the occasional brotherly conflict (that is normal and expected and is needed), but I think the conflict so far this season was just too much. It has been dragged out for way too long and, for that, I really hope there is a big payoff (i.e. Sam and Dean are *finally* back to be a true team and acting like they like each other again..even a little).

I remember seeing an interview with Jensen earlier this season (December, maybe?) where he touched on having to be careful on giving the storyline enough build-up, while not dragging out the conflict for too long because it is fine line. Edlund touched on something similar at ConicCon last summer. It is a line I personally don’t think the writers treaded well this season.
