Supernatural Preview: Will Castiel Be Able to Help Sam?
This week's episode of Supernatural feels like a long time in the making. For almost two seasons the show has been dealing with the issue of Sam's soul and his memories of Hell. First he had neither, then he had one, but the memories were trapped behind a wall. Then Castiel broke the wall and seriously damaged Sam's psyche. While Sam has been trying a variety of techniques - from pressing on his scar to ignoring to exercising - to keep those memories of Hell at bay, it seems like he finally loses the fight.
The March 23 episode of Supernatural, titled "The Born-Again Identity", finds Sam having a psychotic break after Lucifer (guest star Mark Pellegrino) simply won't let up. With no other choice, he's brought into a mental hospital. Sam seems resigned to his fate, as you can see in this clip for the episode, but Dean's not about to roll over and just let his brother die. Instead, he reaches out to his ever-dwindling network of hunters and allies to find some way to save his brother.
At some point, he seems to find Meg again (as you can see from the photos and trailer for the episode). How or why the two of them team up is currently unknown, but they follow a tip to find a real healer...one who looks very familiar. Dean is shocked when Castiel reappears in his life, only the (former?) angel has no memory of Dean. What exactly happened to Castiel after he disappeared back in episode 7.02? Where has he been? And can he actually help Sam? I know that a lot of fans don't necessarily want a quick fix to Sam's problems, but God knows he needs some help.
Misha Collins is also set to play Castiel in two more episodes this season.
Watch the producer's preview below for the March 23 episode of Supernatural, airing at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.

I hope we actually see Sam's actual break down in this. It will be lame if he's locked up just because he tells someone Lucifer is talking to him. I also want Sam to be at least half this episode in terms of screen time.
I've been dreading Castiel's return all season long. He's going to be rewarded for mass murder and nearly killing Sam. Why would I want to watch any of that?
I also hope to God that Sam gets the final reaction shot at the end of this episode. This is Sam's Breakdown, Sam's Trauma, the emotional reaction to all of this belongs to Sam.
I couldn't agree more. Sam's story has been sidetracked for the whole season with a ludicrous hand trick and now that we finally have the chance to see some developement, this happens to be Castiel's big episode too. Again. TMWKTM, anyone? I'm so fed up with this character. Then he "cures" Sam of something he caused himself and is regarded as the big hero of the day. End of Sam's story. I'm going to watch this one because of the Sam part and I'm done for the rest of the season, or perhaps of the show. This is no longer the show I fell in love with. That was the love story between two brothers; this is the love story between one brother and his angel.
Hope this where Jesus come in for Sam it would a good show another family show CW
You disappointed fans have turned into supernatural haters, if you got nothing good to say, shut up! This episode would be great! I hope Sam finally gets over Lucifer, and those hallucinations, I'm sick of Lucifer, and Hell stuff.
Why can't people give a chance to Sera?! She is working hard on this! I know this season is not the BEST, but the writers are just trying to set things right, after the season 6's messes, the being God thing, and Sam's broken wall of course. Why can't fans just wait? Things will get better, I'm very sure, and positive. Cas is back, the Impala would be back, and hopefully Bobby would. I really want the show to proceed for another season, and I don't want season 8 to be last one, so PLEASE, give the show a chance. Things will get better! Watch tomorrow night's episode!
