Supernatural Slide-Show: Season 6 Summary Before Tonight's Season Finale

This season of Supernatural has been...well, a bit confusing.  For a while, it seemed like Sam being soulless might last forever, then the focus was shifted to Eve/The Mother of All, then we learned that all of that had been a distraction for the real story this season: Castiel's war in Heaven and his deal with Crowley to gather souls.

Despite all of the loose mythological threads that have been floating around in season 6, I felt like the season finally came together with the most recent episode "The Man Who Would be King".  The reveal of Castiel's season-long deceit and his deal with Crowley pulled the attention away from a monster (ie. Eve) that wasn't working for me and put the focus back on the characters that we enjoy watching.

With the season finale tonight, I thought it might be helpful to provide all of you with a refresher of the season.  Below you'll find a slide-show, with each photo representing one episode for this season of Supernatural.  My goal is to summarize the important mythological threads, not the monster of the week stories (unless it relates to the aforementioned mythology).

When you're done with your season 6 refresher, go take a peek at the other slide-show we posted today about Supernatural's Most Heartbreaking Scenes, or read our interview with Sebastian Roché (Balthazar).

And in anticipation of tonight's season finale of Supernatural, we have a lot of stuff for you to go through, including a trailer, an episode preview, a sneak peek, a second sneak peek and promo photos (here, here and here).

Don't miss the two hour season finale of Supernatural tonight on The CW, beginning at 8:00 p.m. ET.  It will be a long summer before new episodes return in the fall, I'm sure!

Dean has spent a year living with Lisa and Ben in suburbia, but he can’t forget his brother or their former life. Sam reconnects with Dean after Dean is poisoned by a djinn. Sam admits he’s been back for a year & though the boys reconcile, there’s something off about Sam. He also introduces Dean to their resurrected grandfather (Samuel) and other Campbell family members. After they defeat the djinn, Dean tells Sam he’s not going back to hunting & will remain with Lisa and Ben.
