Last season of Supernatural ended on one heck of a cliffhanger, which is pretty par for the course on Supernatural, but fans are dying to find out what happens with their beloved Castiel, who opened the door to Purgatory in the finale, took in the power of all those souls, and has crowned himself the new "God".
As if Castiel's future on the show isn't enough turmoil, we also have the problem of Sam and his broken wall to deal with. After Cas tore down the wall in Sam's head in order to distract the Winchesters, Sam had to traverse his own subconscious and absorb the memories of both his time in Hell and his soulless self. In season 7, Sam will have to adjust to his terrible memories of Hell, as well as what sounds like hallucinations and confusion about his mental state.
There's a whole new storyline for the Winchesters to deal with in season 7, including the loss of many allies which will force the boys - and Bobby - to come up with more creative ways to defeat their enemies since their old tricks won't be available any longer. Plus there's a few awesome guest stars for the upcoming season, including the return of some old characters (read more in our Comic-Con coverage) and two Buffy alumni that were recently announced (read here).
Below is the new trailer for season 7 of Supernatural. Supernatural's new season premieres on Friday, September 23 at 9:00 p.m. ET.
Thanks Clarissa… I'm actually more hopeful that's *our* Cas after being desouled. I sure hope so, since the show definitely won't appeal to me without him back in TFW.
It seems The CW and Sera Gamble are continuing their No-Dean-Campaign. Except for Jensen Ackles, why should fans of Dean tune in for the upcoming season?
We’ve had interviews, Comic-Con, more interviews, spoilers, promos and still Dean-fans are standing empty-handed. I spotted one shot of Dean in this first promo for Season 7. One shot! That’s not how you treat a main character on your show, and that’s not how you entice his fans to watch.
What I really want to read (or see) right now is an interview with Sera Gamble in which she explains what her problem is with Dean, why he can’t have a storyline, can’t be talked about or even mentioned even though this show is supposed to be about two brothers, about family. And why is The CW condoning and even supporting her obvious favoritism to dictate and hurt the show? Because it is hurting the show. No storyline for Dean and possibly no Castiel will drive away a lot of fans.
All I want is for Dean to be allowed to be Dean and to have his own solid storyline, as Sam and Castiel have. Is that too much to ask for a popular lead character and actor? I don’t think so.
I know some of you are tired of complaining but…once again, while discussing promo/speculation for season 7 NO DEAN. Clarissa didn't even use the name 'Dean' in her short description….Not even once. We have 'Sam' and 'Cas' multiple times, we even have 'Bobby' mentioned once, but no 'Dean'. It's like the character stopped existing. And before you all tell me that it's because we KNOW Dean is a co-lead and he will be there, so there's no need mentioning him, let me just tell you: it's never been like this. Ever. Sam has never been that ignored. No 'lead' character has been that invisible. Oh, how I wish I was a Jared fan! But I can't. And I've met both. More than once, in different situations. And i can't. Not after what I've witnessed. I'll be Jensen, and only Jensen, fan forever. So I guess the only option for me is to say goodbye to the show. It's been a nice ride, show, thank you and goodbye. To the rest of you: have a nice day.
Yeah, I gotta agree with Fortlith and KS. If I were primarily a Cas or Sam fan, I'd be ecstatic over the promo- lots of cool scenes and intriguing storylines for both. For Dean? Um…not so much. As ks said, there was nothing to even mention in your summary, Clarissa. Same thing happened with Dean in Singer and Sera's interviews, where they highlighted the major arcs of S6. Dean's name didn't even come up once.
.
I really don't need or want to see Dean used as just the POV for Sam's epic story. I really don't want to just see Jensen used as window dressing while Jared is the only one getting the meaty acting challenges. It didn't work well in S6 and with all the resulting fan frustration, it's mystifying why there hasn't been an attempt to turn around that perception if that's not the plan for this season too. Potentially alienating a good chunk of your fanbase isn't exactly the best PR strategy in town.
Wow you peeps need to chill. That was just a promo. You are gonna jump ship and stop watching (which btw you know you won't) because the storyline isn't going your way? In my opinion you aren't a true fan of the show.
First of all we don't know all of what is going to happen this season. It may start "Sam" centric but could end up different. The show has to address what happened to Sam in hell and you know as a fan that is a integral part of the story arc. Also btw Dean(Jensen) is a very important part of this show and the creators and writers know this and he does get meaty parts. Look at season 6 it gave Dean the main plot lines and revolved mostly around him.
I for one look forward to this season and what it may bring and if you were you true fans of the show you would watch whatever the outcome. I am a fan of both actors and the characters they play because both make the show as good as it is.
*if you were you true fans of the show you would watch whatever the outcome*
I assume you include the Cas fans who will stop watching if Cas is written out in this statement? What about all the Cas-haters who've claimed they will stop watching if he *isn't* written out?
I think it's because Dean had his MAJOR story lines in the earlier seasons. Hello, Dean selling his soul and going to Hell AND Dean being the meat suit for Michael (although it was a joint storyline with Sam being the meat suit for Lucifer). The earlier seasons were primarily about Dean/Jensen from what I can remember. I barely even noticed Jared/Sam was there. Dean's internal conflicts with John, Dean dying multiple times, etc. It's now Jared's time to shine. Just let it be! Supernatural will ALWAYS kick ass!
*AND Dean being the meat suit for Michael*
BUT HE WASN'T. o.O
