Supernatural Spoilers: Fractured Brotherly Relationship, Take 27

Supernatural fans, raise your hands if you thought that Death restoring Sam's soul and putting up a wall to block his memories of Hell (which we recapped here), would result in the brothers resuming a nice, friendly relationship.

Okay, maybe a tad unrealistic.

Fine, then raise your hands if you HOPED that would happen.

Well, I think we might all be a bit disappointed.  In my midseason review of Supernatural season 6, I mentioned how a continuous point of sadness for me regarding Supernatural is the fact that the brothers have suffered from a fractured relationship that really gained strength back in season 4.  Now E!Online reveals that when we shouldn't expect the boys to be back to braiding each other's hair like in season 1 right away.

The spoiler reveals information about the dragon in the January 28 episode (which we previously posted about, along with information on a new meta episode), but also dashes out my tiny spark of hope that things between the brothers will go back to normal.

Did you know Supernatural is the best show of 2010? You did? OK, how about some scoop from the first episode of 2011? Hide yo' virgins! A dragon (we're talking a dragon with ginormous wings) is breaking into people's houses and snatching up local girls wearing purity rings. For those who are interested in the cool monster factor of demon-hunting, this will be the episode for you. If you just want to see Sam and Dean working together and everything returning to sunshine and puppy dogs…maybe not the episode for you.

*Long*suffering*sigh* Alright, I'm willing to tolerate a few episodes where the brothers try to reconnect over beer and killing things.  I mean, I'm assuming Sam will have little to no memory of the year that his body walked the earth after escaping from the cage, and Dean has spent time having a family that didn't include Sam and then dealing with his soulless alter ego.  So a period of adjustment is necessary, I suppose.  But so help me if they don't come together again quickly to help protect Sam from going crazy from the memories of Hell (because you know that's going to happen before the end of the season).

In the meantime, to distract yourself from this bad news, go take another look at the pretty new promo photos we posted a little while ago.  And then take a peek below at a still from an upcoming episode (with shiny, shiny gold!), that Judy from the CW PR team tweeted.

And this is the reason the show lost some ratings, they killed the chemistry!
The banter is gone and they try too hard to add silly lines to substitute for it. Jensen and Jared know how to be brothers, hey, they have brothers of their own, they are like brothers off screen-so why not let them put more of that into Dean and Sam? The way they used to.
