Supernatural Teasers: The Winchesters vs. The Greek Gods

SupernaturalMythical gods are no stranger to the Winchesters on Supernatural.  In a previous season 5 episode, “Hammer of the Gods”, Sam and Dean encountered a slew of pagan gods in a hotel who were trying to figure out how to deal with the Judeo-Christian apocalypse that threatened the world.  In the season 7 episode “Time After Time” the brothers also encountered Chronos, the god of time.

In a late February episode the Winchesters will once again be pitted against mystical figures: “Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) are stumped when they investigate a possible zombie case where an amnesiac man (guest star John Reardon) dies and then revives himself once a day. After the guy is attacked by the goddess Artemis (guest star Anna Von Hooft), Sam and Dean realize he’s not a zombie but instead a god, more specifically, Prometheus. Steve Boyum directed the episode written by Daniel Loflin.”

For those of you who don’t remember your classical mythology lectures, Prometheus was a Titan (hence the episode name “Remember the Titans”) who supposedly stole fire from the gods to give to humans and was basically a symbol of human progression and innovation.  As a result of his theft, Zeus had him chained to a rock for all eternity where his liver would be eaten daily by a giant bird and would regrow each night (the gods were very creative with their eternal punishments.  Meanwhile, Artemis is the sister of sun god Apollo and was a patron of hunting and wildlife.  It will be interesting to see how much of these myths the Loflin has weaved into the story.

Don’t miss this all new episode of Supernatural on February 27 on The CW.
